I am ready to install my new bushings, and had a couple questions. Should the dimple washers on top of the OEM bushings be used with the newer bushings? Also does anyone have torque settings for the bolts? Don't have a manual for Gen III.
Any reason the plastic tabs can't be ground off instead of notching the SF?
Thanks,
Mike

Since you should be re-using the original bolts, torque them to what the regular specs are for the GEN II.

Grinding the tabs off is how you make them fit.

I like my GEN III SFB's. Much better than stock GEN II's.

I've heard to torque them between 80-100 lbs.

Grinding the tabs is easier than notching the frame, so more people do it that way.

The proper torque for SFB's is 88-118 Nm (65-87 lb-ft).

I don't think there's been any definitive answer as to whether or not there's a difference between just grinding off the tabs or notching the subframe.

The only advantage I might see to notching the subframe is it would eliminate the possibility of the bushings rotating, which with the oval center may make the bushings more effective when maintained in the designed orientation. Although even with the tabs removed it's still going to be an improvement over stock, with less NVH than the aluminum bushings. Just my $.02.

Thanks, guys, something to think about. Anyone know the preferred orientation of the tabs? I think whether or not the tabs are ground, once the bushings are pressed together they won't move during the tightening process.

The SFBs should be oriented so that the locations where the tabs were removed should be fore and aft.

If you decide to notch the subframe just use the dremel with a grinding bit. Takes 5 min.
Yeah, but do spray it with some rust-oleum or similar paint. You don't want bare metal exposed to rain or puddles.
