i'm looking for pictures of gen I's with gen II spoilers. as i can't find anything i like with a led brake light i think i'll go this route. i've seen only a few that have done this, one at the convention, but i didn't take a picture i guess. i can't find it. if you could show me pictures of what this looks like and any info with installing one that would be great! :thumb:

A gen2 spoiler will not fit a gen1. An '86 Firebird spoiler fits & looks good on a gen1 IMO. But still no brake light. Why would you want another CHMSL back there? Buy a plus spoiler & retro a brake light into it or add some LED's. My plus came with a FB spoiler. Call me for options.

no they don't "fit" exactly but they do work. i like the plus spoiler alot but as i have about 9 billion other customizing projects at the moment i'd like one i could just work with. i'd like to build a LED plus spoiler but as they are quite expensive i'd hate to mess one up. the reason being my 91 is being brought into the 21st century and the CHMSL is old and i prefer and like the third brake light in the spoiler. also it will match the LED tails i have planned. ugh one more damn custom project and my head is seriously going to explode! god i hope this is all worth it in the end.

I just got rid of the spoiler and LED light on my 93. I like the cleaner smoother look of the spoilerless trunk. I too am going with LED tail lights and I have 2 12" LED strips that I am going to be using for the 3rd brake light. They will be stacked and mounted on the package tray with a custom housing and the package tray will be recovered. I'm thinking about looking into a small lip spoiler maybe, something like the E46 M3s.

If you keep the brake light on the rear deck, you can still run the plus spoiler. I've noticed a lot of cars recently that keep the light on the rear deck, but still use LEDs.

I put a Gen II spoiler on my 89 back in the day. I also wanted the brake light in the spoiler as I put 5% tint all the way around.

Currently I am at school with no pics but the one in my sig...and you can't see enough of it to tell. I thought it looked good and fit reasonably well. I got alot of comments on that car after I had it repainted.

The pics that I've seen of a Gen 1 with the Gen 2 wing never looked good, IMHO. The curve of the wing doesn't match the Gen 1. The wing looks too wide left to right too for the back end.

this is my first gen with a second gen green wing. Alot of people have told me it looks sweet. what do you guys think?
Wingbolt
Installing Method I used:
i dont have specific measurements for this.

1. find the center of the trunk. use a grease pen to mark it.
2. hold the spoiler up to the trunk, lined up with the center line of the trunk.
3. find out how far back it has to be so when you drill the holes the back lip of the wing is flush. make a mark at the 5 bolts.
4. drill the holes through the trunk. make sure they go through the under support of the trunk. also make a hole big enough to put the led wire through.
5. make the holes underneath the trunk big enough to be able to put the 5 nuts though.
6. put silicone around the bolts.
7. wire up the 3rd brake light up to the stock one. (i removed the stock one)

I am pretty sure your 91 is not a plus...although it is nice.

You do have a plus fiberglass hood.

However you don't "appear" to have - picture is not that big

1) black mirrors
2) body color cladding stripe
3) black b and c pillars
4) plus spoiler
5) chrome window trim
6) Moonroof??? not so sure I have ever seen a 91+ without one...althought they might have been able to be ordered that way

In my personal opinoin, being that I see this car everyday, It looks good. Of course you're only seeing it from one angle here. Its green for right now because Wisconsin Weather does not permit painting in winter. :( Some people may think it looks abnormal because they dont see it on every 1st gen in real life. Dave also has a buddy with a green 91' with a white 2nd gen oddly enough. He'll get some pics up when he can.
