gen II door panels in gen I cars

the title says it all. Will gen II door panels fit in gen I cars?

I think they will, although I could be wrong. But why would you want to do that? the gen 1 door panels seem a lot more classy and higher quality than those of the Gen 2 IMO

i want the newer buttons. i don't like the way the old buttons look. and i don't think i am a fan of the perferated leather

The gen 2 door panels will fit the door, but when you close the door, it will destroy the panels. The gen 2 stick out further into the interior and match up with the gen 2 dash. When you close the door they will smash against the gen 1 dashboard. Even if they were the same dimensions, the dash boards are still completely different, and they wounldn't line up correctly.

thank you. that is what i sort of thought actually but i wasn't quite sure.
