Does anyone know if the full replacement guage pod is still available for the SHO? I have been looking for this piece, it was sold by SPMotorSports a few years back. The only place I have found is www.gaugepods.com but they do not have a picture of the gen 1 pod. Has anyone ordered a gen 1 pod from this website and have pictures? I am looking for a full piece pretty much like this one:

I don't think I've seen a SHO gauge pod like that. I've bought a couple pods from gaugepods.com, but I think they were all Gen 2 pods. FWIW, the Gen 1 pods leave a gap on the door side.

Thanks for the replies. I remember seeing a forum member post up a picture of their full sized replacement years back, maybe in 01-02 when I was just lurkin around. The gen 1 pillar trim is a bigger piece than the gen 2, so a gauge pod like the above pictured would have to be installed while hacking up the original pillar trim. Is it possible this is where the gap was? Maybe the installer hacked away too much of the original trim?

I would like to see some pictures of gen 1's with the pod installed and the source. Hopefully the gap is not too serious and can be fixed with a little work, or is an install error. I searched the forum over and only found pictures no longer available.

IIRC, I didn't have to trim anything when I installed the pod on my 90. The gap is where the "pods" match up to the pillar trim. You could see in behind the pod to the back of the gauges. IIRC, it was the worst on the middle gauge.

I'll post a pic once I'm off work(later this afternoon/early evening) of mine installed on my '91 Plus. I can't remember off the top of my head where I bought it as this was 3 or 4 years ago but I should hopefully be able to figure it out.

How did you install the aftermarket piece, did you leave the stock pillar trim or remove it?

O my gosh, I forgot again :nut:

I am making an alarm and a calender event now so I will not forget this time. I promise.

And im sure if you drilled holes it would mate a little smoother but even the way I have it, looks good. Color matches too. I believe for mine you just install over what is currently there. (It is a triple gauge pod)

Yup. I went to take pictures with my camera and of course I find out my battery went. Seeing as I was in a parking lot I couldn't charge it. I got some with my phone that should show you what you are looking for. I will post em once I'm back from class

Finally, I got the pics. If you actually drill the holes im sure it will sit a lot more flush at the top. Thinking of it now, my bro's supercharged SHO has a gauge pod with it installed tight. :nut:Ill have find the pictures I have of that. I will post those later tonight.

Maybe it's my eyes because I've had my contacts in all day...

...but did you install the pod on top of the original A pillar trim?

The guage pod piece does not extend all the way for the gen 1, hence why it is installed over it. It should be more flush and closer but i have not drilled it so it cant be. If installed 100% correct it will look fine.

My brothers is a gen2 so if you want I can have him get some pictures. The one I have doesnt show the whole thing.

Also the site you posted in the original link is actually where I bought mine from like 3 or 4 years ago.

That picture is helpful knowing it came from the website I asked about. This is exactly why I made this thread, I am trying to avoid a gauge pod like that in my 89. I would like the whole piece that replaces the entire factory trim to give it that factory look with the gauges. I am willing to pay some money for a full replacement.

Thank you so much, and I honestly do not intend to disrespect your install or anything. Your help is very much appreciated. I am just real picky with my SHO and trying to build it as close to factory looking, as possible. I'm willing to hold off until I can find a whole piece or find a company that can put the two together.

Yup I understand, Glad I can help. :)

Though if you wanted, you could see if that website could make it how you want. Im sure it cant be too difficult to add on the extra little piece missing from the top of the pod to where it goes along the roof of the car so it looks factory. Its worth a shot if you can't find what your looking for anywhere else.

Yes, and hopefully they start making them to be a full sized replacement for everyone.
