The thread that had it seems to have been removed, does anyone have the link to the place that had the blue gauges that kind of looked like DFI?

Not sure why the thread was moved, not sure where it was moved, and why I can't access the new location.

I cant access it either, this is a bunch of crap, there was alot of useful information in that thread.. i.e. Part numbers, URL's, instructions, pictures, now we cant even access that!!!! I am sure that Chris will supply us with all of the information that we need to get out parts and installs completed... Who would have known it would have caused a :rainshit: storm!!!

my guess, it was moved because one of the long time members complained about it being a for sale thread .. even though he admitted he couldn't be bothered to read the whole thread first.

It would be nice if one of the mods could snip the first several pages of that thread out and repost. There was a ton of useful info in that thread totally outside of the pod building.

Would be nice to find this thread so that Chris could continue his info. WTF, is going on? Not sure why it had to be messed with after being up for a long period of time....sometimes I can't figure out the powers here.

Yeah I'm not to happy about either. most of you have my email to ask me any questions. In the mean time we can rebuild this thread with install info etc. I have questioned the mod for his decision and hopefully I get some sort of answer on why.

Mike, just to let you know, I have been actively looking into starting a Gen 4 Website for sometime and this may be the straw that pushes me to actually start construction of that...will let you know. I do need some help from a friend who is very knowledgeable about that stuff, and I have not had a chance to catch up with him yet, although we have been doing some initial work for this.

While I admittedly don't know exactly which thread you guys are talking about, my guess is that it's the one with the gauge pod fabrication?

Not sure of details, and I didn't notice it was moved, because I don't venture into these forums much, but if I could offer what my guess is on this, as a long time member: If it resembles a for sale thread by a member who doesn't have a paid classified ad, or is a supporting vendor, it'll be moved to an admin area for review and dealt with appropriately. Of course, I'm not a mod here, so that's just a guess, but those types of for sale threads violate the TOS of SHOForum.

I have seen this happen in the past, and information that was in violation of the TOS was pruned, and the useful parts of the thread moved back to the original location.

It seems that more and more of these types of forums have become more interested in the $$$$ they can make for themselves vs. the comradery of the owners and the sharing of information...... I mean, is that not what the internet was created for, the SHARING of information????

I hope your right Bob, only thing I could be guilty of was potentially selling a gauge pod. The 1st 10 pods I took on investors so to say, 9 people including myself to pool or funds to make these pods. There is no profit to myself I did out mere kindness and because I was so honored by others by wanting something I made. And my reward was pride in myself and new knowledge. And of course if everything work out I would begin selling. But I haven't even completed my investor pods yet. I haven't take one dime from anyone for the sale of a pod as of yet. I am new to this forum, and I could have potentially made a mistake. Until I was made aware forum rules, so I don't believe I have broken any rule as of yet. What happened here is someones ego got hurt plain and simple, unfortunately the mods that govern this forum are just ordinary people. And let there bias or opinions get in the way of being impartial. But really big question who does this hurt the most? and could it been handled a different way? I believe hurt this forum the most, this has create a distaste here for many and are looking for ways to leave or create a new forum. Since for the most part we are a pretty friend group I would think someone would have at least contacted me if I was breaking rules, the mods have our email.
But I hope its like you say that they are reviewing the thread and are editing post from that our a infraction. But I won't hold my breath, I wish I would have took a screen shot of the threat the mod posted before he took down. Don't remember exactly what it said but it was pretty much I will show you. Sounds real impartial, don't it?

There are several factors at play here.

First, this forum is not run at a profit but in fact a loss. The owner keeps it going because of a passion for the car and the people -- not the money. Colocation, bandwidth, software, hardware, etc. all cost money, and money does not just magically appear in the bank account. Selling anything on this forum requires a modest donation; profit notwithstanding. It's been that way for 6+ years, and is an extraordinarily simple concept. 99% of the forum population is happy to donate for sales since this is the single authoritative resource on all things SHO. Every once in a while though someone SHOws up and complains that such-and-such forums have free classifieds. That's awesome! And irrelevant.

Second, the SHO is not a Mustang. The field of paying vendors is tiny compared to other makes/models, so those few willing to help defray the costs by becoming sponsors deserve a little consideration in return, such as asking everyone else looking to sell something to live by the same simple rules. When dozens of SHO vendors are pounding on the door to sponsor the forum, I'm sure free classifieds will return. Until then, it is what it is and everybody has to live by the same rules.

Third, the ******** elitist crap a couple of you posted when someone from "outside" your little Gen 4 clique mentioned that a donation should have been made before offering something for sale was the final straw. You think you're that special? Start your own forum. Treating other people like crap just because they don't have the same car payment as you is a pretty ****** thing to do, and isn't what this forum or the SHO community is about.

Unless and until someone ponies up the donation for a group buy sale, kindly respect the forum rules and stop selling the items. If nobody wants to pay for the ad, if I find the time in the next week or so, I'll review the thread and clean up all sales related content before moving back into public view.

Simple enough?

I will repeat it again, I have sold no items.

Again, I ask...Why was this thread left alone for several months and now it has to be removed? Seems that someone was just looking to stir the *** again....

I don't mind making a donation, just for the fk of it, I mean seriously? I get it.....

I mean if it brings back the thread, then so be it.

The point is, is that crash712us never sold a single one of these pods as of yet.

In the interest of sharing his talents with the rest of the community, he posted images of the one, solitary pod he made for himself.

I was one of the few core people who repeatedly pestered him to make a pod for our SHO's.

Being as equally enthusiastic about his SHO, JUST LIKE THE REST OF US ARE ABOUT OUR CARS, NO MATTER THE GENERATION of SHO, crash712us was gracious enough to take the plunge and attempt fulfilling our requests by attempting to reproduce the one pod he made for himself.

Did he ever run a group buy? NO.
Did he ever make a profit? NO.

It was suggested that any future productions runs (assuming Crash decides to do them) should be placed in the for sale section(s) and then make the appropriate donations pursuant forum rules.

Again, although it may have appeared on it's surface that something else (like him selling these things was taking place) had anyone taken the time to read the thread from beginning to end, they would have realized how it started out, and then what it transitioned / morphed into.

The flaming post(s) and irritated, hurt feelings (admittedly including my own as I discussed this issue in private with the OP) stem mostly from the fact that the thread had remained intact for over 6 months. Another person, who recently "came into" (the thread) made some suggestions, and/or comments, and then all of a sudden, blamo! Thread deleted. It just kind of smells funny, no offense to whomever's responsible.

As the "premier" SHO forum site, it will continue to be a loss to the community as a whole, to keep the thread on lockdown, (where ever it was moved to in cyber space) as there was/is a lot of useful and beneficial information contained within it.

Inevitably, if this particular forum wants to retain it's status as the "premier" SHO forum site, as new members continue to search the internet in their ongoing quest for information on the various Gen's, the Vendor's, and any after-market mods that may be available out there, to deny those potential viewers beneficial information (such as the info contained within the OP's "Project Gauge Pod" thread, will only hurt this specific forum's site, as it will just force those interested parties to search elsewhere for said information, etc.

IMO only, the original thread should be returned to it's rightful place and re-posted (edits made wherever deemed applicable).

Although I am not the OP, I felt compelled as a contributing member of this forum, who does respect and appreciate the heritage of the SHO, who does get involved in actual events and activities, and who also does provide useful and helpful 'how-to' threads on various mods etc to the Gen4 crowd, I would respectfully ask that whoever was responsible for removing crash's thread, take a look at it, review it, and then repost it.

As far as the name calling and any other crap that took place or w/e, everyone just mind their own manners. That's like basic decorum no matter the forum.

Hey that kinda rhymed :thumb:

Thanks Mike we can always count on you to always word things so eloquently. I have pm'd the mod to find out what how of a donation to make. For the four extra pods I intend to sell. My intent was never to cheat the forum, and would gladly make a donation. But I am still waiting on answer.

Thanks Chris.

I'm sorry you have to go through this.

You are a stand up guy and a real benefit to the SHO community.

I personally would hate to lose you (and your talents) to another forums site.

You are enthusiastic about your new Gen4 SHO, as I am and others are, including those owners who have preceeded us.

As an added measure of good faith, and to show those others here that may be reading this as well, I am leading by example and have just completed a donation to the forums site.

For those Mods who may be reading, my PayPal email is: [email protected]. The transaction ID# associated with my donation is: 2S578893TA815112J.

So IDK if it'll help at all, but hopefully it does. If not, I'm not worried about it, my donation stands.

I've been up all night working. I've dealt with two suicidal subjects, a home invasion, an armed robbery, a drunk fk'n broad who totalled her car by hitting a guard rail, and the stupid computer systems that were down the entire shift.

I'm crabby and don't really have the proper mindset to continue with the nonsense here. I hope my donation helps Chris.

Hopefully others will follow suit.

You and I both know that your heart was in the right place and I hope it continues to be, even after all of this crap blows over.

Keep your head up high pal, you have a great product there in that sweet lil gauge pod of yours and considering there's no other vendor out there currently producing anything, if you don't post future productions runs in the proper section, I'll drive right back out to Michigan and kick (and tase, and ASP baton, and pepper spray) your ass myself you clown :asskick:

Good night all of you clowns :finger:

While I don't post here often, I read this forum daily, 'cause it's full of useful information.

I appreciate the owner's time, effort, and expense in keeping this forum going. I host several web sites on my own servers myself, for my local Mustang club, a friend who runs a charity, etc. Yes, there's effort involved, and as he noted, this stuff ain't free.

He, on the other hand, doesn't seem to appreciate me very much, since I never received any acknowledgement of the $50 donation I made earlier this year.

That said, he should realize that all of the value of this forum is in the content posted by its users. If nobody posts, then the biggest server farm and fanciest forum software in the world means nothing.

Suddenly removing a popular thread that had been up for months with no warning or attempt to work with the user who fabricated the gauge pods was a bad move. So maybe he'll put it back, if he finds time to go through and edit it properly. Since we Gen 4 owners (FWIW, I previously owned a 1990 SHO) are a spoiled, elitist clique, I guess we'll just have to await his pleasure.
