Gas door will not close

Hey guys the gas door on my 91 SHO will not close. It will swing shut fine, but does not latch. Could it just be the little tab inside that open screw is stuck? I can feel the tension on the gas door release inside the car, but the door doesn't want to catch the latch.

Also if anyone has a gas door assembly with the latch part I'd happily take it off em. Mine is rusted and I feel trying to unscrew it would only lead to stripping off the nut.

got a pic of the problem area? I had a problem with the tab on the door and the corresponding metal tab in the gas cap area. Had to replace both with salvage yard parts.

Update

I have fixed the problem. It seems it was just stuck inside. A simple tug on the manual fuel door release cable and the pin popped back out. Thanks for the quick reply.
