Had quite the WTF experience this morning on my morning commute to work. The SHO is a '17 and is stock (for now). As im backing out of my driveway, the car chimes up that the AWD is disabled. The error cleared with a push of the "OK" button but immediately comes back. So I shut down and restart the car. No more error. I start my 26 mile trip to work. I changed the right hand gauge to the awd gauge to see if the car is indicating power going to the back, and all looked normal. As im getting up to speed entering the freeway, the error comes back. Again it says the AWD is disabled. Then the car chimes to service the advancetrac. Like the AWD error, at first it would clear but then it came right back. The whole time the advancetrac dummy light is on as well. Odd, because the gauge still showed power to the rear, at least it did when I could see the gauge between the warnings popping up. So I decide I'm going to take the next exit and turn back for home. As I'm exiting the freeway, the whole display system goes haywire. The low engine oil warning came on as well as it's dummy light, then the service engine light immediately after. Then it gets more odd. All of a sudden the gauges all go to 0, as if the car was off. No speed, no rpm. The car is still driving fine though. No odd sounds, nothing out of the ordinary except for what the display is showing. Right after this happened the sync system starts announcing that it cannot connect to 911 and to contact the dealer. This repeats until I come up to a safe spot to stop and shut off the car. So I do that, I shut it off for a minute and restarted. Restarted, everything was normal. No errors or warnings. I get back on the freeway to go back home. I get off at my exit to return home and all symptoms reappear. Im going 55 mph and the speedometer is showing 0, and 0 on the tach. Just then it hit me, I'll just pull up torque (I have the ODBLink MX always installed) to see what it shows. My android phone gave me an error that torque pro had crashed and needed to be restarted, so I restarted it. Then ****! The speedometer and tach came back, and all errors went away. I turned around once again and continued on my way to work. I kept torque up to watch the car, but had no more issues. I believe that somehow the app was causing some interference on the communications bus, but an not sure. Had anybody else experienced something like this with an ODB scan tool?
PS I wrote this on my phone, so I apologize for grammar/ spelling

Only way to be sure is pull the dongle and go for a drive. Honestly it isnt so far fetched that something like this happens. If after you pull the dongle, and the problems continue, then take it to Ford.

I have always wondered with the market flooded with cheap dongles if there were issues like this happening.

SHOForum PSA....

It is strongly recommended to NOT play with one's "dongle" while operating your beloved land yacht.

Yeah people seem to have issues the first time they use the obdlink mx
So it is very possible there was a weird glitch dealing with your dongle

Was your SHO playing an April Fools Day joke on you or you on us?!

Lol, I wish it was just an April fool's day joke, but this happened.

Took the car out for a quick spin this morning with the dongle out and no more issues... I've had the ODBLink installed in the car for almost a year now (without removing it) with no issues before, so I have to think it was something with the Torque app causing the issue. I'll try to recreate it if I can just to be sure.

Chances are it was a fluke if it happens again with an app open you may need to reinstall that app
There is a small chance that there is a bug/virus on your phone that is messing with it as well if you have noticed higher cpu usage or battery drain

"I changed the right hand gauge to the awd gauge to see if the car is indicating power going to the back,"

I've only had my car for a 5 months, so go easy on me. I'm not familiar with this function. I have a '17 as well. Can someone explain this?

I mistyped, it was the left gauge. One of the reasons I got the ODBLink in the first place was so I could use FORScan to change some of the settings on the car. The main one was the car honking if I stepped out of it while it is running. That alone drove me nuts. I also added the AWD and the hour gauge as well. While the AWD gauge has some novelty at first, I quickly changed back to the RPM/Temp combo gauge. If you search for FORScan in the forums you can find out more about it.

Cheers Mate. I appreciate the info...

As stated already, check your battery for leakage, corrosion, and or have it load checked if you haven't already done so. Fairly common for what you described.
