hi all,
sometimes my car starts hard unless i turn on the key for a couple of seconds to let the fuel pump prime so i figure i need a new one. when i shut it off i hear a whistling sound in the fuel tank as well. my car is stock except for dynomax catbacks and air silencer removed. would a high output fuel pump improve performance or will the stock replacement suffice? i have no hopup plans at the moment. TIA

A 155 unit will help as some of the ATX got lower flowing SLO units. It may not exactly help with performance but it will make sure yours is up to ***** as the SLO units barely make it.

I have one in mine and it works.

I would check to see if the ATX one gets one from a SLO or a SHO unit, unless they are all the same. The SLO ones are barely enough.

Yes, replace the feel strainer that goes onto the pump.
I would also replace the fuel filter.
Some have had bad luck with the Airtex brand. It's a crap shoot.

DO NOT BUY AIRTEX PUMPS! THEY ARE A POS!

Carter, Bosch, Delphi, AC Delco, or Motorcraft are all good. I work in auto repair and would never recommend Airtex if you don't have to
