Is a Walbro pump really worth getting for a stock SHO? I was hoping to replace mine tomorrow, but I never got around to ordering one, so I can either go down to Checker/Autozone/PepBoys and get whatever they sell or find a Walbro locally (any ideas where to search?) or just put it off for another week and order one from the internet. What would you do?

WalBro makes most of the pumps used on the SHO and most other submersible applications. It should be fine.

Mine had a Walbro...but now it has a Master from Autozone. In case anyone ever gets one from Autozone/Checker/PepBoys, the rating for the one they recommend for the SHO is only 30-40 gallons per hour (113.5 to 151.5 liters per hour) but the Mustang 5.0 application is rated 40-50 gallons (151.5 to 189.3 liters) per hour. Of course, none of this changes the fact that my SHO still won't start and I'm still getting a code 556 (Fuel Pump Primary Circuit Failure) though I have all kinds of fuel flow, pressure and sweet exhaust smoke. Oh well, back out to the driveway.

Down south, in the ghetto. Near Scottsdale and Thomas. I'm moving to Maricopa next week though. House finally got built and I pick up the keys Monday. I hope I don't have to trailer my SHO out there, that would suck.

So, I did a little more playing around and still haven't got it running. Grounded the Fuel Pump part of the EEC test port and still got the same behaivior. Wasn't satisfied, so I just ran a wire back to the pump (well, the inertia switch, but I could hear it running the pump continuously) and it didn't help either. If a Crank Position Sensor fails, will it trigger a fresh code during a KOEO test or will it only recognize failure while the motor is running? When I first started all this, I had a stored 211 PIP Failure code, but I thought is was transient. After clearing the codes, I no longer have the 211, just the 556 and 543, but I think the motor just isn't running long enough to create the 211 error. That's my theory anyway.

Tom, thanks for the Dooleyville offer, I like to take you up on it, but it would be a scheduling nightmare. Between school, work and moving, I'm one busy guy. I'd have to bring it up there sometime on the weekend, but may not have a chance to work on it until the following weekend. Best case is moving and cleaning go exceptionally smoothly and I have all of Sunday free, worst case is I bring it out there and it soils up the place until the weekend of Nov 5th. I wouldn't want to impose like that. Plus, I'm still not 100% sure what's wrong with it.

HaHa, It's not like I don't have SHO's all over the place anyway. You're welcome to bring it out when you can and work on it when you can.. I know moving is tough.

Well, my brother, Mom, and sister all live in Scottsdale south of where you are, so you're in good ghetto company.

Where do you work, if I can ask? This comes up a bunch when discussing all the folks moving out to the area around Maricopa. Where do these guys work? ;)

I work about 3 miles away at Rural Metro Fire/Southwest Ambulance in the 911 center. I'm a computer dork, deal with a bit of network admin and a ton of GIS (computer maps) and reporting. It's about 35 miles to the new house, but the comute should take less time than driving in from either Buckeye or Johnson Ranch. I gotta say, I'm really gonna miss living around here, it's been my favorite part of the valley for years, especially after I turned 21.

Tom, thank you, that's really cool. If you're sure it's not an imposition I'll try to get it up there. I really won't know until Saturday night/Sunday morning about when I can do it, but I'll post up more as I know more.

I thought Jeff moved?

Who's Jeff?

Troy: My brother Jim used to work for Rural Metro, now works for Scottsdale. He's here in Dooleyville also. Do you know him?

GIS eh? Would like to see the application someday.

I remember Jim, he'll probably remember me as the guy who did pagers and cell phones when the cell phone and pager guy wasn't around. Is he enjoying the city? I shoulda placed the last name, but didn't think about it.

It looks like a may have some time Saturday morning or Sunday morning to head up north (I think you live up north, for some reason, Dynomite, Dixeleta?) but I don't know for sure. I'll PM you for directions (and just to double check permission, I really don't want to impose.)

Gonna start with checking fuel pressure for the few seconds it runs, then go from there.
