Does anyone know the life expectancy of the fuel pump for a MTX.

The reason I ask is that I am about to install SFC's and I read that replacing the fuel pump on a car with SFC's is a real PITA.

My car has 100K miles on it and if it likely to go soon I will do a preventive replacement of the fuel pump. Also, if I do decide to replace the pump does anyone know where can I purchase the Walbro 155LPH unit.

Thanks thumbs_u

i dont think the fuel pump change is the problem with sfc's, its the fuel filter. just get a new one for like $8 and swap it before the sfc's go on.

I work around high mileage, high use cars alot and the fuel pumps generally last 120-150k miles. Of course there are always vaiables, but this is just my personal observations.

If you change your fuel filter often (15-20k miles) you fuel pump SHOULD last 150-200k!!!

I've seem people replace plugged fuel filters that were having no problems with the fuel pump and the next day the pump is dead. But this is rare!!! Indications of a defective fuel pump: crank no start, stalling, lacking power, long crank time in the AM, long crank times on hot restart, etc.

And again it is 313,766 miles for the original fuel pump for Snowwind. wink
I will say it groans on start up but has never stalled nor failed to crank. I have replaced the fuel filter about 5 times in its life....should have been more often, but about 60K miles on the average I guess it figures out to be huh?
I use premium 92 octane, any less he don't like it, you can feel it on the pedal..He backfired one time in his life so far, biggest burp I have ever heard..thought I had been shot!
