My friend has a piece of crap Chrysler, he had a fuel leak he wanted me to look at. The fuel line going to the fuel rain was dried and split real bad, so we went to Kragen and they were out of fuel line, so we bought transmission cooler hose that was the same size and used it as a replacement so he can drive. Is this a type of hose that will hold up to gas, or does it need to be replaced with a "fuel line"?
Thanx,
Doug

did trans cooler line have the webbing in the hose to hold increased pressure? used to have a Chrysler 2.2 turbo. if his car is a turbo he may want to replace the hose, the turbo runs at twice the fuel pressure of non-turbo motors [if I remember correctly] if not and hose has webbing, keep driving [IMO]

If that Chrysler is fuel injected then you have to buy hose that is specifically labelled "fuel injection hose". It's quite expensive because it can withstand up to 100psi. Regular fuel or oil hose won't stand up to the pressure fuel injection runs at.

It is a 2.2 Turbo, he is getting ready to trade it in. He doesn't drive it hard at all, will it make it a while untill he gets rid of it or will it be fine? It did have webbing and looked like a good quality hose.

sunny San Juan Bautista,
There's a hose supply company in the industrial section off of Brunken Ave. in Salinas that I bought some fuel hose from a while back. It was cheap, IIRC. Bought enough hose to replace all the fuel lines in my 914. That was about 10 years ago and I've forgotten what the place was called. It's probably still there and it's real close to home so why not look into it?
