I saw somewhere that there is a natural light ticking noise that comes from the fuel injectors.
Im hoping that this is what i have. so Ill try to be a descriptive as i can. ......
the sounds seems to eminate the most if i put my ear to the front of the manifold. bottom line it sounds like it comes from the engine top. i dont really hear it with the hood down. and not at all when it starts on a nice brisk morning. i just did the valves and the sound got no worse or no better and maybe its not a big deal but when your paranoid like me and expect everything to pur you just look for some peice of mind. in closing the sound is very soft but it is a ticking sound kinda like a sewing machine.

The injector tick is a gentle sound that occurs three times every engine revolution when you count all six injectors. You should be able to hear it best with your ear directly over the center of the intake manifold since the injectors are directly under the runners. There may be one injector that ticks a little louder than the others adn you would hear that sound once every other engine revolution.

You can remove the oil fill cap to better hear the front bank tappets. If the sound gets louder with the cap off, it is one of the front tappets. Remember that the tappets will make some noise since it is a solid connection between the cam lobe and the shim. It just shouldn't sound like a bomnb is about to blow.

i do think its the injectors now. i listened with the oil cap off and the valves make a different kind of tapping though. that i dont hear with the cap on. and i put my ear to the fuel rail and it sounds more likely to be com'n from there.
now that tapping from the injectors is there a way to make it smoother or is it completely natural.

Its natural.....the pulsating of the injecter creates it.
