My fuel door release doesn't work at all from inside the car or in the trunk the only way for me to get the fuel door open is to pull the cord in the trunk and get the tip of my finger in back of the door and pull it open does anybody know how to fix this

Yeah, mine was doing that. What I did was carefully bend the metal tab that holds the fuel door shut. Bend it just enough so it pops open again. It may take a few tries to get it working properly again, but it did the trick for me.

There is plastic part that breaks eventually. You can get a new part at your Ford dealer for under $10.

On my car it's also a metal tab, not a plastic part. The tab is just rusted and fatigued. I bent a piece of replacement spring steel in the same shape. Haven't installed it yet but it should work fine.

This is a common problem with the Taurus. Go to the dealer and pay the 6 bucks for a new latch assembly and you're done. Easy fix.
