Ok, im about fed up with my SHO and its cooling issues!! I have recently experienced a problem with my cooling system. When I'm driving down the highway the temperature stays about at the "M" in normal. But when im at a stop, the temperature slowy gets up tp the N and the fans kick in. I have replaced the ECT. t-stat, radiator, and the hoses are in great condition. The only thing I can think of is the water pump. If anyone could help please help me out, i would be very thankful!!! And one more question- when should the fan kick in on my car?? I have a 3.0 SHO with 135,000. To my knowledge, the pump was replace 48k miles ago which was in early 99.

Sounds to me like a normally operating cooling system. From your description of events, there is nothing wrong with it.

From the 93 Service CD:

Electric Cooling Fan
The PCM monitors coolant temperature, vehicle speed and air conditioning status to determine if cooling fan operation is required.

When the PCM determines that fan operation is required, it sends a signal to the Constant Control Relay Module to turn on the fan.

and

The Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM) activates the cooling fan motor when the coolant reaches a specified temperature, or when the engine reaches a specified temperature. On vehicles equipped with air conditioning, the cooling fan motor is activated whenever the air conditioning clutch is engaged.

NOTE:
Cooling fan motor will not cycle with the air conditioning clutch on.

NOTE:
An exception to this is when vehicle speed is over 72 km/h (45 mph) and coolant temperature is below 104°C (220°F). The fan will then automatically shut off.

The activation temperature is around 210-215F. Measure your actual temps with an accurate guage.

As Rob said, your's is not acting in an abnormal manner. When you are stopped, there is no airflow through the radiator so there is no way for heat to be removed from that area. When it gets hot enough, the fan kicks on to keep it from getting any hotter.

BTW, your car only has a single speed cooling fan. Many of the other models have a two-stage fan.

Sounds like you've been chasing shadows because you did not understand how it is supposed to work.
