How difficult to change a front hub on a '99 SHO? My sister was told one of them was bad. Need to remove the ball joint? Anything to look out for? Thanks, Joe

They are a PITA. You can find new pairs of front knuckles on ebay for under $100.00. These include a new ball joint.

Thanks for the reply, but it doesn't help me out much, lol. She's already got new lower arms/balljoints last year.

I pulled all four tires off the car and spun the front hubs as best I could, they were dead quiet and there was no movement/looseness anywhere or any signs of problems as far I could tell up front. The rear hubs make a bit of noise once you spin them fast with the car up in the air with the tires off and all the brake stuff removed, is this normal? Anyways I replaced the rear pads/rotors as the pads were nearly gone after 116K miles, lol. I did get to drive it afterwards and there is some kind of noise coming from the tires I believe, they are Cooper Touring? something or others, do you think these tires might be crap? I'd say they're 60% yet on them for treadlife. If the tires are crap what are some suggestions for tires for her car? She drives it like a mommy mobile and she wants maximum comfort, lol. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards,
Joe

If the bearings are bad then you will be able to move the tire when pushing and pulling on it. No mistake about it if the bearing is bad.

Just replaced a rear hub last month. Piece of cake. The fronts went bad on me a couple of years ago and made a brake dragging sound that went away when turning the wheel at highway speed.
