I just got done putting my 94 ATX back together after doing the front 60k. Surprisingly it was fairly simple after reading the ShoPhoenixProject write up a few times. I will say that I can do it much better now... especially since Ill have to.

I just got done with a round city test drive. (I already knew it was going to smoke... since the last leak gave a few quarts to the Catalytic Converter. I noticed a bit more smoke when I got back... but it was TOO THICK for comfort. Fearing the worst I crouch under and SURE ENOUGH Drip... Drip... Drip. Black oil coming from somewhere and leaking all over the place. more in the front Might I add too... I replace the two Cam and Crank seals since they hadn't been done yet. Im assuming its one of the cam seals... but I wont know for sure until I crack it open tommorow... Theres not enough sunlight left today to even start.

Should I get some Silicone or ford grey and use that? I did that with the Cam seal with the CID some time ago and its worked great. 2 seals went on TOO smoothly now that I think about it so I may go that route. They were even FORD seals.

Ill get some more details and possibly photos once I tear her down again.

Back to battle..

I guess I have to order the three seals again and goop them up...

For the VSS replacement I have the Intake off anyway... is it easier to find it on top of the car... instead of underneath? If so what general area would I look around. I have done several Searches on the forums for VSS replacement and cant find a single thread that helped out.

Anything?

There is no silicone used on the camshaft seals. Where were you thinking of putting it?

The key part of fixing the leak is finding the source.

I am still waiting out the rain for me to be able to check where the leak is at again. My buddy who rebuilds sho motors here at the local Ford dealer told me to use some of the goop on the last cam seal swap I did... and its never leaked since.

Im sure if I do the application the same as that I will get rid of my leak for at least another 60K .
