Front/Rear struts 92 mtx

I'm replacing my struts, after reading a bit i found that I need to get a mount replaced too so I had to order that and will probably wait to do the rears until it arrives.
I'm curious though, anyone have a time estimate on what it takes to change say the front.... then the rear? or vise versa... whatever order.

Depends on your level of skill and your inventory of tools.

First time through: Time = x
Second : Time = x/2

So, let's say it takes two hours to do the left rear (which is pretty good if it's your first time) The right rear should take you about half the time.

The Fronts are a different ball game. A lot more variables and muscle.

By the way, you should replace both rear mounts. I don't think I've ever replaced a strut without replacing the mount.

Expect fasteners to be rusted/frozen. Start spraying them with PB Blaster in the days prior. Heat it your friend, however with a torch you can toast bushings, so watch it. A big pinch bar works well for popping the ball joints out of the knuckle for the front. Watch breaking the rear pinch bolts. Work them back and forth. An air hammer with a mushroom head to hit the knuckle where the smooth shank goes through it can do wonders.

You're in Kansas... if the roads are salted out there during the winter, expect 2 - 3 hours per corner. 1 hour or less per corner if the roads aren't salted.

Oh, and order new bolts for the strut pinch bolts. M12x1.5, if I recall correctly, not 100% sure on the length though.

All you have to do to remove the front is remove the strut pinch bolt.

Makes it a **** of a lot easier to get the ball joint out of the knuckle too. It allows the knuckle more travel and he won't have to be fighting the resistance of the strut rod etc.
