I just recently broke my front motor mount bolt. I plan on fixing it but i was wondering if this is a common problem for mtx's? And what do you guy recomend just getting a better mount?

two of my front motor mount bolts keep loosening themselves up on me, and its getting annoying. i think im going to locktight them. i have the shonut reinforced mount, so im not terribly worried about breaking it. my stock one however did break. i'd say go reinforced.

Here are the Pioneer part #'s for the SHO. They are about 1/3 the price of OEM.

MTX

Front - 602971
Rear - 601173(solid) 611173(liquid filled)
Tranny- 621038

the MTX has NO liquid filled mounts. Use only Ford OEM or Sho-Nut reinforced mounts. When you replace the bolt btw, make sure it's a shouldered bolt, instead of one threaded all the way. Use grade 10.9 metric or higher. I've snapped 2 mounts personally, and about 3 or 4 bolts. The mounts in my car now will be virtually impossible for me to snap.....

I broke my front motor mount bolt doing a burnout once. I had just had the mount replaced two days before. I pretty much concluded that they had over tightened it, and all the tourque that I put on it broke it. But I fixed it with a grade 5 nut and bolt from a local hardware store, and it cost like a dollar. Its a bit of a bitch to put in, its easiest to just go in through the plastic in the fender.

correct...the MTX does not have liquid filled motor mounts OE... however.... pioneer makes a liquid filled motor mount for the MTX and i have posted a picture of it on the forum before... as well as a picture of hte tranny mount.... both pictures were of PIONEER parts sitting on the floor of o'reilly auto parts. (work there)

pioneer offers a liquid filled version of our rear mount.... not a big deal... lots of aftermarket vendors offer variations on OE parts.. our front sway bar end links are an example... moog vs. trw.

at any rate.... on a previous thread... i posted the motor mount pictures... look at them and you tell me... is that it??

I'd go and replace it with a grade 8 SAE or grade 10.9 metric bolt, or you're going to have to replace that bolt again. A grade 5 simply can't handle the stress the mount puts on it. The 3 bolts I snapped were 8.8 metrics (grade 5 SAE equivalent) FWIW.

Just so everyone knows... A higher grade bolt is only stronger in tension. When the bolt is put through the motor mount, and the motor is torqued up, the bolt is experiencing shear stresses. Buying a higher grade bolt does not necessarily increase the ability to resist shear.

i'm fairly sure i know the answer to that question.... as i have never seen anywhere where pioneer handles subframe bushings at all.... but at your request..i'll call and ask

don't quote me on this...but i believe that moog actually makes a "subframe kit"......nextime i'm at work i'll look into it

It doesn't necessarily increase the ability, but it's cheap insurance. The bolts from the factory were 10.9, why replace with less?
