I have searched the forums and V8SHO and have not come up with an install procedure.

I was talking to a friend of mine who is a Ford mechanic and he said the simplest way would be to:

1. Jack up the car
2. Undo the bolts
3. Jack up the engine till the stud on the mount clears and then remove the old mount and put in the new.

install is the opposite.

Question 1: Is this a good idea?
# 2: What is a good place on the engine to jack?
# 3: What are the torque specs?

TIA

I find that removing the RH cooling fan makes accessing the two bolts that secure the front mount to the block bracket a million times easier, and you can fish it out the RF wheel well without taking anything else apart (except maybe removing the tire).

To jack the motor, just put a piece of 2x6 under the oil pan and jack on that.

I'm sure there's a specified tq value for the fasteners, but I usually just tighten them until they're tight. As a general rule, I only pull out the torque wrench for engine assembly and putting on the wheels.

thanks

Oh yeah. I ordered one from Rock Auto and didn't realize that is was made by a company called Anchor. Anyone have feedback about them?

Also, I was contemplating drilling the mount and filling it with a polyurethane deal. Suggestions on that would be appreciated as well.

If you want something really solid, I believe ShoBros is selling "solid" motor mounts that are basically mounts with the two brackets welded together.

I'm pretty sure Anchor makes the OE mounts, as I've sandblasted a few to find a little anchor logo stamped in the steel.

The OE mounts are quite good on the V8 cars. If you're looking to reduce engine movement, it's the rear mount that needs reinforcement.

Here is a comparison of Old vs New.

You can see that the old one has a huge rip. (edit: when I went to throw it away I had noticed that it was torn all the way around.)

EDIT: OH Yeah...anyone know where I can get another top bolt. The head sheared off of one of them. I hate Aluminum bolts.

Oh yeah. If a SS engine set were made they wouldn't be torque to yield (single use) would they?
