I am trying to figure out where my oil leak is comming from, and think it is either the pan seal or the front main seal. However, I have not found anywhere in my manual any mention of a front main seal, only the rear. Is there a front main seal or is it only the pan seal?
Thanks,
Matt

yes, there is a front main seal. Look under your car, and at the bottom of the lower timing belt cover. If oil is present, its probably the front main seal. If oil is gathering under the oil pan, then it could be your oil pan gasket or your valve cover gaskets?. If oil is gathering under the passenger subframe, then I think that could be the cam seal for the CID.

There should be a section in your Helms manual titled "Crankshaft Damper and Crankshaft Front Oil Seal". In my '94 and '95 manuals, it's on page 03-01B-8.

for the '89 SHO the Helms manual covers the front mail seal removal/installation in page 21-13-14

Titled: Crankshaft/Damper/Front Oil Seal
