You have to disconnect the LCA from the subframe in order to get the strut rod out.

Once that is disconnected, everything else will come out.

LCA to tension strut bushing removal

I have used the brute force method twice for the control-arm-to-tension strut. the stock busing is a dumbbell shaped attached in the middle. you can pry/snip/hack it out of one side, push out the other.

the replacement TPR bushings I got were two-piece, one placed on each side.

this is a fair amount of work, but well worth it. one SHO I worked on, I took a MOOG replacement LCA and pried out the NEW rubber bushing and put the TPRs in place.

I am sure that you are also replacing the control-arm-to-subframe bushings at the same time, hope that your subframe mounting rings are not broken.

If you are talking about the bushing of the LCA to the frame, this is tougher. If i recall there are a few posts on the forum. Rather than wrestle with this one, I think in one car I simply replaced the LCA and the MOOG came with the new bushing.

Hope this is useful. best of luck.
