I'm continuing to come to the realization that as much as I would love to do a revitalization project it is time for me to sell my 96 MTX. I am selling the whole car, but it will only be sold with the understanding that the new owner will be replacing the chassis before driving it regularly. I'd love to find a donor chassis and breathe new life into this car but the time and space (with the kids all now 5 years older than they were when I put this thing together finally) required is more than I have for the foreseeable future. Furthermore I feel selfish hogging this car - this the the SHO FoMoCo *should* have built in 1996 and its time for someone else to enjoy that.
Truly one of a kind - 1996 MTX Taurus SHO
5 Speed manual transmission (from 2004 Mazda6 s)
Custom CV assemblies done by DriveShaft Shop to integrate the MTX (recently rebuilt with new tripods and outer joints)
Grand Prix GTP rear control arms (fully adjustable)
29mm (yes I said 29) SHO Shop rear sway bar with TPR bushings (these are very rare)
Includes X-Calibrator II for the custom PCM tune for the MTX.
165K miles on chassis
Motor was replaced during MTX conversion with a motor from NESHO (estimated motor mileage is about 150K but that is only my guess so lets just call it at 165K for both.
I am willing to drive it anywhere within a day of Columbus, OH (450 miles). Of course I would need to arrange a trip home somehow if that would be the case.
custom items (not under hood) for the MTX conversion:
Modified fusebox and GEM to make space for clutch pedal.
Pedal set (obviously).
Shifter, boot, cables, center console.
99 Cruise control module so the cruise works (96 and 7 modules require ATX speed input 98 / 9 gets it from the ABS).
