Sorry, this is pretty long.

<story>
So, I got a fidanza flywheel, and after reading about how people have put the dowels in the wrongs spots and they have to be ground down and thinking "man that’s gotta suck," I proceed to put 2 dowels in the wrong spots.

Alright I take it to a friend and we try to drill them out. That was taking forever and I remembered that Fidanza just ground down pins in the wrong holes so that’s what we decided to do. We grind the two of them down, so I now have half a dowel and what’s left of half a dowel that was partially drilled out in the flywheel.

While doing the clutch job I put in new LCA, tpr bushings, ASFB, Extreme Reinforced motor mounts. I then proceed to install the flywheel and get everything back together. Start the car up and now it definitely is shaking a bit, though bearable i guess. I've never ridden in a car with these mods so I don’t know if it’s just extra NHV from them, but I think not.
</story>

OK so here are my questions.

Do the extreme motor mounts, ASFB cause a sizeable amount of engine shaking (probably not this much if its enough I’m posting about it right)?

Will 1 1/2 extra dowel pins in the flywheel cause problems? (Shaking, engine failure, deadly flying flywheel pieces)

Can I leave the flywheel like it is? Or dump the car quickly and find a super coupe (just an idea).

I've been going on the forum to ask about even the simplest stuff during this project, but for some reason I didn’t even think about the flywheel before i put it in. Gaar :frown:

As always help is definitely appreciated

A lighter flywheel will cause a rougher idle regardless. You now have less to absorb the shock of each piston firing. The Extreme motor mounts and Al SFB's will cause the rough idle to transmit into the car. With cams and those mods, I have my idle set at 1144 rpm.

Should have just cut the dowels off to begin with.

I doubt your feeling those dowels. Although balance is key, I don't think you'll have a problem. I've heard that the Fidanza's are not perfectly balanced anyway. I would not just dump the car, unless you tell the buyer why you are doing it.

Hey thanks for the reply man. I'm probably just overreacting (spent waay too much money on the project).

That was dumping part was just a joke about me wanting a super coupe, I wouldnt sell someone the sho without telling them theres a problem.

Going to Xtreme Motor Mounts, Aluminum Subframe Bushings, and a lightweight flywheel will make for a car that has lots of vibration in the cabin.

It's not that bad :D

Actually, I like that feel better than what I feel in the '92... I can't even hear the motor.

Glad to see I'm not the only :bonk: that used the wrong holes! I ground all 3 flat. Almost 9K on it. :D

That's why you put the dowels in the pressure plate first, then set the flywheel on top to get them started ;)
