My wife and I are flying to Charlotte, NC Saturday to pick up our new (to us) 2010 SHO with 14k on it. It's RED and has the Proformance Package for me and heated seats for her, plus a lot of other option but those were the three we wanted.
I had an 89 SHO from 1992-2000, then I bought a Contour SVT to replace it when it lost a rod bearing at 220k. The Contour's up over 200K now and Ford finally made something I wanted to replace it.

I have been looking for a few weeks to find just the right car at a good price. The plane trip and drive back to KC makes the whole thing an adventure.

I'll post agian to let you know how it all worked out.

Congrats on the new car, hope you enjoy the flight. After you get home, you should consider adding the Livernois tunes as your first option, it will make the car a lot more fun to drive and the added power and fuel mileage is great.

Here’s the update on buying my Red 2010 SHO. I saw one at CarMax in North Carolina and it had a clean car fax sheet. I ask them to hold it until I could fly from Kansas City to buy it but as the week went on what was described as a touched up scratch ended up them repainting the front and back of the car, and the wanted me to OK panting a door!!!. Since I had already purchase a non refundable/transferable ticket I decided to take the trip and just take a look at the car. In the mean time I was checking out a Ford Certified Used Car (100,000 mile warranty) in West Virginia with a much better history. It was owned by an employee of the dealership who needed to down size due to their husbands job loss. It had what I was looking for, Red, Performance Package, A/C Seats and the Sony stereo. So we fly to NC, showed the salesman all the screwed up rework they had done to the car,(this car was F&cked Up) then went and had some great Carolina BBQ and watched football the rest of the day. We got on the plane Sunday morning to fly to WV where the saleslady met us and I drove my new car back to the dealer for a inside and out, top to bottom and under inspection. Buy 1:00 we were on our way back to KC, a 750 mile trip, with our new SHO. We stopped just east of St Louis about 9:L00 and got up at 4 the next morning for a 9:00 arrival home. It was quite a trip but I got what I wanted. Now on to another SHO ownership.

Glad to hear of your very productive and gratifying trip. Even that 4am rising wouldn't be too bad with a new SHO waiting for some attention.:)

A hearty congrats and, yes, let's hear all about your opinions of the GEN 4 after the drive home, and your plans to mod.

Will there be an intake and Livernois Tune in its future or a more extensive mod list?

The first thing I can tell you, that you probably already know, is this cars BIG! i feel like I'm driving a SUV or Crossover. I lowered my seat to help this feeling but I couldn't hang my arm out the window, plus I didn't want to look like a short guy in a tall car, I'm 6'-2". I ran at 100mph for a with two Mercedes and a Volvo for a while, all red that was great. Then there was some evasive driving skills as we took the detour on I-64 over the Ohio River, that was a mess! I miss the shifting! I have been driving my Contour SVT for the past eleven years and the 89 SHO before that, heck even a Topaz with the 5 speed and a 4 on the floor Pinto station wagon before THAT! So I don't know what to do with all of these extra limbs. The other thing I'm going to miss from the old SHO was the screeching burn outs and everything wanting to race you.
As for mod's, I learn from the SVT, LOWER IT, LOWER IT, LOWER IT! I see Eibach in my future.
I'm learning about this Liver thing and I'm not a big fan of K&N filters, even though I own many of them. I think a clean stock filter will flow OK and filter ALOT better.

I agree..not a fan of K&N. I had one of their filters go bad and they refused to honor the warranty so never again. But the Cold Air Intake of our choice is Airaid, even though it does flow better then stock, and I saw a small increase in fuel mileage, just the "Wow" factor when you open the hood is worth the installation. Also Airaid has proven over and over again to provide great customer service and David from Airaid has supported us and the forum since before I had my car. Here's a picture of mine in case you have not seen one installed:

I had a cold air induction I built for my 65 Mustang out of a defrost vent and air duct flex hose. It work great until one snowy icy day on the way to work it got clogged with snow until the car wouldn't run. Ripped it all off on the side of road.
