Hey guys, I know it's probably been posted here a million times but I'm hoping to change my PTU fluid ASAP because I'm at 105k miles (bought about 7k ago) and I'm not sure if it's ever been serviced. I need to know what you guys recommend and how much it takes but I saw something in a post earlier about changing RDU fluid, I hadn't heard of the RDU and I googled it to no avail so I was curious as to what that is and how often you suggest I change that fluid and what to use. Thank you guys so much for all the help I love this forum.

Thank you for the link my man! I'm assuming the RDU is the rear diff then? whats the U for in that case lol

Rear differential Unit.

It also includes the active torque coupling clutch (atc) in addition to the differential (its 2 parts in one). The ATC is the clutch that sends torque to the rear wheels when needed. Its bolted to the pinion of the rear differential and is not serviceable in regards to fluids.

The ptu is a transfer case and always sends torque to the ATC clutch. The clutch is what connects the front and rear to make the car all wheel drive.

Fun fact, the new edge and nautilus have a PTU with a dog clutch. What does that mean? They can be truly 2wd or 4wd. (My difference between 4wd and AWD is that 4wd can disconnect the un needed axle)

Best things to put in both the RDU and PTU is Redline Light Weight Shockproof Fluid.
