Yes, definetly get the cams taken care of. As far as exhaust...check out V8SHO.com.....flowmasters are nice, and affordable....Borla real nice and real expensive.

Which sounds better, and which one yields the best performance?

I don't know on the puuurrrrrformance between the two. I've got Flowmaster Delta Flows as well as a straight pipe where the resonator used to be. It's pretty throaty sounding. At idle you can hear it nicely, when you REALLY get on it, it sounds good. My brother was ahead of me on the street one day in his Ranger and I decided to wipe on by him (he was unware that I was there till I passed him). I stomped on the gas and passed by with ease. I called him on the cell phone to say "hello and see ya" and his exact words were, "Dude I was looking in my rear view mirror for a Mustang GT or something". So, in a nut shell, I think it sounds good and throaty (not extremely deep, but a nice V8 deep) with the Flows on there and really nice if you get on it. There's some interior noise when cruisin but not that bad. My wife found it loud at first and got used to it after a while. Now, she kinda likes it. It will turn heads. People will look at you and say, "That's a Taurus????"

To have 2 NEW Flows put on and the resonator (which will make it louder when removed) removed was $180.00 I also kept the stock tips, I like them. Yet you can go with after market tips, like WUZZER did and they look pretty good too.

I've got Silver bullets. Had them for four years now. If they ever wear out I will buy some more.

With a overhead cam engine you should always go with a straight thru design. A chambered muffler is good for push rods not for DOHCs. As we are pushing a lot more air out.

I have Dynamax super turbos. I love them. There is no rasp when you get on it. It is a real low mellow tone. I have all my cats hollowed out, opps! That might make a difference in sound to with them cleaned out too. It rattles my house when i start it up...jj thumbs_u

What is the part number for the turbos you use?

I used a Borla cat-back system on my Probe GT and it sounded sweet!

I don't think there's much difference with their costs.

I have the Dynomax Super Turbos and I do like it. It was not my first choice but I'm not disappointed with it either. I would choose Borla and I'm just waiting that it will start to rust(dynomax)so that I will have an excuse to change it.

My Exhaust mods:
2 1/4" Offset/offset borla turbos
Opened to 2 1/4" or damn close stock tips
Took care of most of those 1" bends at the back
No Res.
No 3rd Cat.

Yes it's loud! I like mine just as it is. I don't want it louder or quieter.

FWIW, the flowmaster street/strip non delta technology 40 series is as loud or louder then the borla's with the resonator removed. I have heard some other V8's with the Borlas and the flowmasters are louder. If your looking for more of a subtle sound, go with the bullets or borlas. If your looking for more of a muscle car sound, go with the flowmasters. In my opinion, flowmaster street/strip 40 series is the way to go as they will get noticed with out removing any other part of the exhaust system on the car.

about my car passing emissions, in Florida, we don't have to get tested...but assuming everythings running right...it should still get by just fine.

I have the 2 chamber Flowmasters (40 Series?)on mine as well as having a larger inside diameter Flex Pipe and no 3rd cat or resonator. The closest thing I can think of in sound is one of the Chevy trucks with the 350 and Flows.

I would never knock Borla for performance but for price the Flows have them for sure. If you want it a little quieter then either leave the resonator in or go with the Delta series. If you want the rumble then go with the set-up I did.

I believe my favorite comment I have heard was from a group of kids at a local Burger King. My fiance and I were pulling in and it was a Friday night. All the little cruisers were out and when I hit the lot, one kid said (Qouted) G*^ D_@# what did you do to that thing. I have had a LOT of people stop me just to ask and it is the same results EVERYTIME!! Man, that does not sound like a Taurus!!

I asked this about four months ago and no one had done it yet. Has anyone just removed the resonator (left in stock mufflers) and what were the results. I'm just looking for a little more growl, not a lot.

I went with Borla Turbo's, res removed. The have a nice deep tone.

However...after hearing SHOZ123 Silver Bullets I would not hesitate to go with them next time. Nice sound.
