I actually have to work at work today. Full out math mode all day. Something wasn't lining up right from spec to methods on a Teflon shaftseal.

@skyshadow07 I don't remember you even posting about a blown ptu. Care to share that post/posts with information about that, and where you used Redline?
I honestly can not determine if you're questioning my legitimacy while trying to drag me into yet another drama thread on this forum... or is that was an actual question.

My use of Redline is on my intro post. As is my PTU issues. That post grows as things change on my car.

So did the redline contribute to the failure or what is the correlation?

That was before he put the Redline. For him to say the Redline blew up his PTU is completely misleading. Also I have not found a single post about him having his PTU replaced.

I also believe shadow has never claimed the failure was due to the redline


That's why I was asking. I'll admit I'm too lazy to search the forum.

You guys are killing me. I'm sure that any of the reputable gear oils, be it Redline, Royal Purple, Amsoil, etc. are just fine with a decent change interval. The PP cars may be a bit more forgiving on the heat factor, but generally speaking it should come out looking like lightly used motor oil. If it looks like sludge, lots of grey metalics, you already have one foot in the grave and no snake oil on the market is going to take away what's already been worn. The threads dealing with installing drain plugs to facilitate more frequent, easy changes are your friend.

Edit-just wanted to say thanks to 802SHO for the Blackstone Labs reports. Also, since this has mostly been about the SHO, not the truck it started as, that "I thought" that on here or EB I had read that in addition to the PP/ non PP PTU choice, the PTU itself has had some revisions over the years. So besides what fluid you decide to use, there may be other pros and cons of whatever version is in your car and things may not be exactly apples to apples. The other thing, concerning race teams is that sponsorship comes into play. Both product and $$$
