mine has a number of small bumps and a couple rather large ones.

Is there some way to fix this? Or does it require replacing them? If i have to replace them what are they called technically?

Thanks for the info guys!

Also.. If anyone knows someone who does 60k service in Ontario Canada.. please give me a shout.. im to new to SHO's ownership to want to tear it apart yet

The bubbles aren't repairable, however, there is a wealth of them at your local junkyard. The moulding isn't specific to the SHO, any Taurus, of the correct generation, moulding will do. I was shocked to see the pristine condition these junkyard car's moulding were in.

TECHNICALLY, they are mfg plant specific. There was a canadian number, and an atlanta number.

I bought 2 of the last ones for my 95 ATX, and they were about $105 each, IIRC new (found on the locator service about a year ago).

I suspected the Gen 1's were compatible, but haven't tried it yet myself (have a couple from my 89 sitting on the shelf for "someday" for the 95).

There was a difference between some of the mouldings I removed at the junkyard. They [gen ll] mouldings were dimensionally the same, however, some did have different designs of their metal "pinchers". Some looking very aggresive and likely to cut through any coating on the interior of the doors.
Again, I was shocked at how good the majority of the mouldings looked at the junkyard...way better than our pampered cars. The reason for this has me puzzled, lack of care?, coincidence?, can't figure it out.

The vertical mouldings are a mystery to me. I'd be interested to know, because I have issues with a couple.

We attend the Canadian Grand Prix each year [10 yrs now] and over the years the exchange rate lowering has made the money seem less "Monopoly" money like, so 10K is closer to 10K American than a few years ago.

Yeah it's weird how it happens, my completely beaten 89 oddly enough has NO rust on the molding/body. but otherwise every inch is beat to **** and back.

Yeah... I need new moldings too. I think the reason for this phenomenon is Doyle's law. :D

"Doyle?!? You mean Murphy?!?"

So you can just go to the junkyard, find a SLO or a Sable and take off the window trim off of them and put it on the SHO? How do they actually fit and what holds them together in place?

I'm thinking it's pressure spraying carwashes, personally.

Interesting observation. I use a lot of the "touchless" high pressure car washes and I have bubbling on 3 of the 4 windows. Just picked up some very cheap mint trim from a very low mileage 94, though.
