Hey folks like title says I am new the taurus I purchased is a 2015 sho. I want to improve everyday drivability and handling maybe some light mods but nothing too crazy. I am a novice when it comes to modding or working on cars. Where should I start?

Change the fluids, think about maybe a drain plug in the PTU. Get a good tune if you want an easy power bump.

As for handling a set of H&R springs not only give you a much better stance (in my opinion) but do help fairly dramatically in overall handling. If, you’re ok with feeling few more bumps.

On the performance front, a tune package will be the best bang for your buck.

Personally, still considering Brew City Boost's 3 Bar Map Sensor & Custom BCB Tune. If I don't, the following basic upgrades have me quite content regarding performance & handling upgrades.

Haven't dyno'd yet, but my experience with other vehicles tells me the HP/Torque output should be around 400. Of course, straight pipes aren't for everyone and I've done Flowmaster 50 Series (mellow) mufflers on other vehicles if needed.
  • H&R Springs
  • Straight Pipe
  • K&N High Flow Air Filter
  • K&N Cold Air Intake
And the stance before & after will look like the pics on my profile page in the album. A nice, low "Hunker down you hairy dog!" kinda look. With noticeably improved acceleration (less drag), handling, cornering downforce, etc.....the usual improvements felt with lowering.

I frickin love driving that damn SHO. Also a supreme long distance road trip vehicle, with a few trips from Florida to Western (North) Carolina every year .... if we don't occasionally take the wife's Explorer Sport. (Yes, lowered on H&Rs.)

Couple of observations to consider.

Most tune only SHO's on 93 octane make in the 360 ish hp and 420 tq range. On E30 they make closer to 400.

BCB isn't a big tuner for our platform. They are in the F150 world. Big three here are AJPturbo, Gearhead, and Ortiz.

I would advise not putting a chambered muffler on a Force Inducted car. You want the most free flowing exhaust, so yes straight pipe is the best. However, the consensus about the 3.5 EB is they sound like junk without a good muffler. That being said the stock exhaust on our cars are more then adequate for most people's desired power level. However downpipes, removal of the 3rd cat and upgraded resonator (if you don't want drone) through stock mufflers is a great combo.

H&R are the best thing you can do for handling for a great price point.

A drop in K&N air filter in the stock air box can supply more air then the stock turbos can physically use. If you upgrade turbos, the EPP Dual Intake has proven to be the best intake at this time when you upgrade.

You touched a lot on the exhaust. Out of curiosity and desire to learn. Everything on my car is stock but the car has so much drone it is annoying is it the noise maker or the exhaust that is causing most of that obnoxious noise?

The 360ish hp is at the wheels I assume

It sounds like crap can’t hear myself think. Would the “noise maker” be this loud?
No, after after it’s deletion I noticed zero difference in sound. Have you peeked underneath to see what’s going on? Sounds like someone did a resonator delete.

Haven’t looked under I notice it more when I don’t play music in the cabin. But I am having a conversation with a passenger I have had comments of how annoying it is I will look under it later this week when I change fluid and drill and tap ptu and rdu for drain plugs.

As @Zpak said. Stock these cars have no drone. If you have drone someone probably deleted the resonator. Look under your SHO and see if you have these.

Above is the stock 3rd cat and stock resonator.

Yes that would be to the tire.
I checked under the car today changed engine and trans doing ptu and rdu tomorrow but I have a serious question to ask. When I changed my trans fluid I got an engine light and a warning saying my awd is off kind of worried only had the car for a few days what could it be?

The best bang for your buck would probably be the Gearhead Auto Octane tune pack.

I've been really wanting to tune using GH. I'm on the site now and maybe I'm overlooking the auto octane tune but is it really only $150 bucks in total for that kind of performance gain?!

I believe that is just tune only that comes in a file.
