i just bought this car today. i washed, vacuumed, and tire dressed it today. i was gonna wax it, but got too lazy. besides, i had a busy day ahead of me. i'm enjoying the car so far. just one question... i want to detail the engine. is there anything i should not use as a cleaner? anything i shouldn't get wet? i usually use simply green on my Supra and protect the electronic with a small plastic bag of some sort. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks.

I would be careful about water entering the spark plug wells. I have washed my engine before but with a low pressure garden hose and not a high pressure one like you would find at a carwash. Simple Green is fine since it is not a harsh caustic degreaser like the engine cleaner you find in cans. Have you noticed the warnings those cans have on them about this stuff going into storm drains and runoff and also getting it on the paint? Just think what it does to rubber hoses and electrical insulation. No thanks.
