First 1990 SHO

South East WI. I know verrry little about these cars, any tips or events coming up?
1990 SHO matx, very stock, 76k miles.

runs rich as of now. help? fixed 1 out of at least 4 codes (air charge sensor). after checking 1 code I started and currently changing some fluids so cant see if it runs better or what but my guess is no.

Typical slammed rear lifted front and im having a hard time finding any aftermarket coils or springs REASONABLE priced or any parts in general besides SHOSource. want to put 19" or 18"s and lowerd for daily street.

only things done was distributer, aluminum subframe bushings, possible ported intake mani.

You’re kinda late to the game on a car not many support with parts, keep watching for people selling stuff and read all you can here.
Only available cheap suspension was Monroe stock Taurus but certainly a 4x4 look.
Kinda surprised you want to lower and 18’s or 19’s considering where we live.
I’d focus on getting it running turning and stopping first, 60k tune up etc.
What history do you have and we need pics.

Here are a couple pictures (car is on jacks). Last owner put a Accel #140035 distributor on it. Found a plug hanging to the right oh the water pump and below the intake boot not sure what it goes to. Im in no rush for any suspension work but it is something that will be done. Im only 18 so not alot of experince but I have some backround in engines. Thought you might want to see the oil cooler too haha.

Aluminum subframe bushings are good. That's the power steering cooler, if I had to guess, the rubber lines are hard and are leaking where they go onto the cooler, the clamp looks suspect. The plug to nothing is normal, I believe its for EGR on California cars. The stock coil is sufficient, I'd put a used one on before an Accel.

If you need any parts I have a 91 plus that I use for parts for my 92 but the 92 is pretty mint so haven't picked her clean yet and im in MN so not to far from you

Welcome. I am also in the South eastern Wisconsin area. As others have said, maintenance items first. Get it running right then start the search for any aftermarket parts that may come up for sale. Spend time on this site searching, trust me, if you have a question, it has been answered. Otherwise, don't hesitate to ask.

Welcome! Good choice on year and color! Where in southeast Wisconsin are you?

Is the fluid level good? Free of grit? I would extract it and store it in a clear glass or oil resistant container. Add new fluid back in, rinse repeat at least 3 times. Then evaluate from there. Could be the fluid was never replaced, there is a leak, or wear in the gear.

If after some time the new fluid looks good and steering feel improves, probably good 2 go for a while. I would send in the old steering fluid to Blackstone Labs for analysis to make sure the gear is good.
