I replaced the subframe bushings on the passenger side and reused the bolts because they were in good shape. On the driver's side though they are rusting away so I want to replace them. The Ford dealer has them for 6.44 a piece and they are not in stock.

Can I go to a building supply store or hardware and match up some similar bolts so I can save some money and get them sooner?

I did a search already and didnt find anything on substituting different bolts.

Note: I am replacing the bushings with gen 3's so I don't need washers and the nuts look fairly descent. Also the recall kit has already been done. This is why I don't think I need a kit.

thanks, Bruce

subframe bushing bolts

Bruce Malachuk also has these, he is an SHOforum member.

I believe this is his contact info. Bought 2 kits from him in the past.

I tried a good grade 8 bolt and nut, I fabbed the nut kinda like the original... I see no difference in the way the car acts and I keep checking the bolts to make sure they are tight, with no problems. I am not saying do it, but it worked for me as I was in the same boat, could not wait for bolts to be shipped. Just as a side note, I have purchased the correct bolts and nuts, just waiting for a reason to put them in.:thumb:

Thanks guys for the help. I ended up finding a dealer about 25 min away that had them in stock. Over six dollars a piece, but definitely worth it knowing I have the right bolts on there and the 10.9 grade.

Dude, you missed April Fools Day by a few weeks.

RCM has the bolts and the recall kits also (not listed on the site), as does most Ford dealers.

Grade 8 min tensile strength is 150K PSI and 10.9 is 142.2K. Also the torque capacity of the grade 8 is higher then its metric counterpart.
