I am more of a Gen 2 and 3 guy but I believe only the SHO plus came with the fiberglass hood so I would assume you have a SHO plus.

The hood came with the plus option and some late build 1991 SHO. They differ from the stock hood by having a power bulge. My 1991 in the sig has a carbon fiber copy of the original plus hood that was on my SHO.

There has been at least a couple of '90s throughout the years that have had a factory plastic hood. Definitely not Plus cars.

Hang on to that letter! This fills in a piece of the puzzle as to how cars got plastic hoods well over a year before the Plus cars came out.

Looks like they were doing some consumer testing.

My Jan 1991 production SHO has the 'glas hood and is not a Plus. See the bulge on the sig pic.

Here's the whole thing. Complete with authentic coffee stain from 1989. I apologize; it's a jpeg and not a pdf.

So it appears there may be a few 1990 Model year SHO's floating around with a Fiberglass hood judging by the date on that letter.

-Sam

probably more than ford realizes with people parting out pluses and snaking the hoods for their regular SHOs.

how much heavier is the steel hood versus the fiberglass?

I'll be researching Mr. Shipman. I'm pretty sure my pops worked with him for a minute.

Shipman retired in Jan 97..living in Fort Meyers.

Trying to get his number so you can call him and tell him how you like the hood. Apparently, my dad is golf buddies with a guy that has a buddy that golfs with him.

I don't know about the weight difference but I think the regular Gen II hood at least is pretty heavy, judging by mine. A good 50 pounds, give or take 10 either way so I've been told.
