You had that much trouble fitting 18x8.5? What offset were they?

I had 40mm offset 18x8 rims on my last SHO with 235/40/18 tires with no clearence problems dropped 1.50" rear and 2.75" front, here:

RI-SHO3.jpg

To have his rims stick out further to match to the new fender he'll need something wide like 9"+ rims with 35mm or spacers.
Offset is +44.5mm.

I only had trouble with rubbing against the fender (in the front of the wheel well) cause I pushed the wheels out 20mm with spacers.

The reason for pushing the wheels out was entirely for reasons of look and handling.

Also note that I wanted to have the same offset on all rims AND I don't like when the wheels stick out beyond the fender.

In other words, I did not wanna have +42mm on the front rims and +22mm on the rears (which would eliminate the need for spacers and therefore no need to modify rear hub.) Also, I did not wanna have 4 rims with +22mm, cause that would result in the front wheels sticking out beyond the front fender.

So, being as picky as I am, I had no choice but to modify the rear hub.

Sorry, I been anxious to see it finished also. Everything is still progressing. My dash is done ready to go in i have new carpet door leather pieces have been redone in suede and other things. Since the doors and everything else were off of the car, everything is being put back on the car to make sure everything alligns correctly and to make sure there are no overseen "problems".
So far one became aperent when the rear bumper was put on. The arc of the flare on the bumper doesnt flow with the rest of the quarterpanel. But its an easy fix, all they have to do is sand it down some more. I will try to get some descent pics tonight so you all can kinda see what itl will look like when its done. So far you know what the paint will look like, and now that the car is pretty much together it looks very very satisfactory! Almost makes me want to have a smoke ... and i dont smoke!

Plus it will sit in the garage during the winter (while i put it back toghether)... so im looking into getting a galant VR4 which i been searching for a while for this winter. I finally found one and since its snowing right now i have to get the mulla to go get it!

LOL ... sorry fellas ... im as anxious as you are. Well good news! Good news? Maybe so. I went and check out the car and its in the booth getting masked. Everything was fitted to make sure everything was ok and the hole car has been wetsanded to reaply the base ... some "reactions" were found on the surface of the base such as pinholes that are literaly that, pinholes! so those had to be sanded down to the primer. Plus a minor drawback on the rear bumper ... YES MORE ISSUES TO ADDRESS! While having it on a stand the weight of it (it was with the sides pointing up) made it swing and pretty much 'jump' off the stand to the floor! Chipped off a small piece of the fiber glass ... so not a big problem, easaly fixed.

But i was told that the car will be painted tomorrow!!! (12/03/2004)

So im gona pray ( :hail: ) to see it happen.

For the wheels:

H&R sells spacer kits. I usually think they are dangerous and become a weak point on the car, but H&R seems to have it down. We put them on the Porsches that are getting aftermarket wheels if the offset is incorrect. I have never seen one of these cars tracked with the spacers, so I'm still unsure of their durability.

But Porsche seems to think it's acceptable for a street car.

I could not post the pictures as usual since Cardomain is acting up and i cant load the pictures there. I dont want to overload this thread more than it is with really big pictures.
Once i load them on cardomain i will post accordingly.

Bumpers and moldings did not fit in booth so this will be painted next.

Hope you all enjoyed! As always will post more when more work is finished.
