I hope you've got some huge wheels and decent sized spacers to make the wheels flush. Its gonna look awesome whens its done though.

Here is a question:

I'm assuming you plan on putting on wider wheels to match the look of the fender flares? Unless you are just going to have a huge overhang between the fender edge and outside lip of the wheel?

If going to a wider wheel, doesn't that mean having to drastically change the back spacing on the wheels. Wouldn't this result in an enormous stress load for those wheel bearings to handle?

I would think that the wheel bearings can handle it, but torque steer is going to be pretty nasty. Of course, who cares right? It looks like the final product is going to look great! :thumbs_u:

Don't get me wrong, I'm not denying that it is going to look great. My question was just out of curiousity about wheel bearing load, not down grading the effort being put into his project. :thumbs_u:

I will eventually move to a 19 but it wont be wider than 8 inches and they will be lightweight performance wheels. I wanted to do em because:

1 - my 18 rub slihghtly on the wheel well edge and
2 - nobody else has tried this making the SHO look better.

It rubs because of the tire's sidewall is pretty much parallel with the edge of the rim. Getting a tire with less width would have fix that problem and no mods are necessary. My 18X8 tuck in nicely since it has a 40mm offset no spacers either!

I think if i would go with a 19X8 i would have to get a wheel with a 38 mm offset to ensure not to rub with the fender or go with a 19X7.5 and keep the same offset.

The stock slicers have a 42mm offset(not sure) so i think the stress on the bearings are the same with the 18's since the offset is compensting for the bigger wheel. I hope that makes sense.

Sounds ok to me..

I'd love to see some pictures when you get that all put together, repainted, and 19" installed. Although I think 19" would be sitting a little big on our cars, ya never know.

I'd just give anything if fomoco made the gen 1&2 RWD. It would look great with a set of flairs on the rear with nice wide tires and slightly less wide tires in the front but still plenty of rubber toucing the pavement.

But I guess it would be nothing more than a really expensive v6 four door mustang? Oh well, it is late and typing a lot of bs.. zzzzzzz

He wont have to go much bigger guys it's not like he added a huge Supra like wide-body kit just a nice bigger buldge compared to stock, can SHO owners be positive for once lol it's always "huge" or "not possible", "do you think i'm loaded I drive a Taurus" say that to the people modifying late 70's and early corolla's :D .

Can't wait to see it done and on the car, surprised you had problems with your 18x8 @40mm offset, because I had 18x8's on my old SHO with a 40mm offset and 235/40/18 tires with it being dropped 2.75" front and 1.5" rear so something must be up with your suspension...?

Either way man good luck, you better post ASAP when those fender are finished!

The problem was that i went with 245/40/18. I Suspension is Koni insert with intrax springs with the first loop cut on the springs. I think it gave me about the same drop.

Even with that drop there is still some gap between the tire and fenderl. The add on flare is gona make it look like its even lower since its going to hide that gap. :)
