Finally the inside's of an engine/trunk/hood get covered! I think It should be like that from factory, I am sure everyone here can test to their shotty paint jobs, my moonlight blue sucks under hood! Can't wait to see the car painted man :dribble: :thumb:

Hows the interior peices coming along?

Will probably get painted at the end ... since the interior pieces will be the last ones to go on. Plus im about to take out the dash to have it done in suede together with the roof lining and the rear deck.

They are going to paint the engine compartment black. Im going to try to pouder coat the runners and the valve covers orange, leaving the plenums polished. Im going with a black-orange theme even though i still want to paint the black pieces on the doors silver to give it a nice offset in color... black kindof does the same thing too.

I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THE MATT UNDER THE HOOD .... I can get it done in an aluminum sheet with 'SHO' engrave on it.............

WOULD HEAT BE AN ISSUE IF THIS GOES FROM REGULAR MATT TO ALUMINUM SHEET?

Beware of suede on the dash unless your going with 35% tint on the windshield.

My friend in his GS400 recently did it in grey and it started fading in about 7mths of exposure to the sun, it'll fade a lot faster with a darker color, he recently had it all redone with a micro*blank*. I completely forgot what it was called but its what is used in Mercedes and other higher end cars for there dash and it is a lot less fade resistant.

I beleive you are refereing to micro-fabric, but I am going with ALCANTARA and its an italian suede. Thanks for the "heads up". You can check it at this link.... click on automotive, has a lota info on it.

An aluminum Mat? It will rub against the hood and most likely heat up and warp... at least that's what I would think.

hey Showya, do a carbon fiber with an SHO lettering like stock SHO lettering, that would look hella dope under the hood man! :thumb: plus it can stand the heat, and it would be really lite weight. You could do the lettering in that orange, Man I hope you have a beater, cause this is gunna be one sweet potato! :laugh_ti: Seriously though, it is gonna be almost too nice to drive everyday.

Yup ... already looking for a beater ... i saw a CRX for $300 ... we'll see how it drives. CF does sound good under the hood. I can always do that afterwards so i guess i gota research who can make me one.

I wanted to get something that looked like the EVO hood. I recall a thread trying to get CF hoods for our sho's but everybody wanted a cowl CF hood i thought the vent like the EVO and matching side vaines would look awesome. I wanted something different. COWL looks good but i dunno ... there is something about it....

Some one at the SHO convention had a SHO with an EVO vent in the hood. It was acarbon fiber one. It was on S/C SHO and he used it for venting. Here is a picture of it:

I didnt like it to much but maybe with yours it might look better.

With an aluminum pad if you ever brake a mount or somehting to cause the eninge to rub it will cause binding and it can be destructive. If allowed to go on it would be hard to repair. So I would be careful of it. If there is enough clearnace then it wont be an issue. The hood may get a little hotter though as the aluminum disipates heat very easily so that would be the only side effect I could see.

The hood and the trunk are now out of the booth and the car is getting masked.

Plus i took out the dash to get it upholstered. Took me about 1 1/2 hrs to do. The time consuming part was getting all the wireing outta the dash, but the dask it self is only held by 7 screws.

You might want to think about replacing the heater core while everything is exposed. Just prev. maint. but it's a real PITA job and you have to remove the dash to get to it.
