Hey guys,

I am going to pull the engine/trans out of my 92 mtx this weekend. I have done the clutch job on an SHO 4 times - each time by using an engine support and dropping the trans out the bottom with the car 2ft in the air on jack stands.

Is this the fastest/easiest way for me to remove the engine and trans? How high do I need to get the body to get the engine out from under the car?

I will not be putting it back together - so whatever is the fastest/easiest is the route I am looking to go.

Thanks,

Brandyn

Buy a engine hoist from harbor freight and pull the motor and trans out the top. Takes me 3 hours now after pulling it out once previously.

If your not putting it back together I think it would be easiest to take it out the bottom. Just drop the subframe and lift the car over it.

it needs to go up about a foot higher to get the engine/trans/subframe out than to just pull the trans out from under it.

the engine is not so tall if you pull off the intake and fuel rails first. I pull it out one of the wheel openings - it takes less height on the body compared to taking it out the front.

Leave it in a bad part of town, preferably with the keys in it. Put a GPS locator and let it sit for a day, check craigs and BOOM you didnt even have to touch a wrench.
