I bought a new 97 (265 miles on it) and put over 200k on this car before my loving wife wrecked it in the right front fender and door. In my search for another SHO, that has lasted 6 months, I have yet to see another one with wood trim on the dash. Was this an option in 97? How many of them had this? I have told myself for a long time that if I ever get another one it wouldn’t have the wood trim… Personally I never did like it.

One more note… my search is now over with the purchase of a very sweet 1996 TR with 62k on it, with no wood trim!

To my knowledge wood trim was not an option. I would guess that it was an aftermarket item that was installed in the car when it was new. Was it true wood trim or the molded/simulated stuff?

There is a possibility that you can still get a molded wood trim look dash kit from somone if you want it on a new vehicle.

Yes... It's the molded/simulated stuff. I have seen in the past.... It's been a few years now... a description of another one for sell that said it had wood trim also. There was nothing on the original sticker about it either. Keep in mind I bought this car new.

I will post some pictures of it later.

Ya know, ive seen a few SHOs (and SLOs) in parking lots with fake wood trim around the radio, shifter and window controls. I dunno if this the same stuff you have but this was like a sticker that went over the existing trim. It looks cool from far away but up close looks really cheasy and cheap. just my two cents. If you have the real deal, I think it would be awsome to find out where it came from... Black burlwood trim in my car would look totally kick butt
