I'm getting my clutch done and I just found out that Ford did recalls on the 89-90 SHO's and replced it with a 9.75' from 9.25'. If this is the case, are they still up to fixing it and putting the new clutch in them for free? When I asked the Ford guy, he said that he had to look at my vin # so he can tell and that the factory recalls are the life of the car if it's a safety reason. So someone please tell me what's up with that.

half-way there, I think.
I would be suprised if you still have the 9.25 clutch. Most SHO's ate the 9.25 clutch up within a year or two of being sold. You might get luckly though, you should be able to call any Ford dealer with you VIN and they can tell you what Recalls have been done to it.

I went through it but couldn't really understand what it meant so does that mean they're still doing the recall on the clutch?

Yes, I still have the 9.25 clutch and I need to upgrade cause the bolt pattern won't match the new one. I need to get a bigger flywheel to upgrade right? Also thanks for the info.

No, Ford will not replace the 9.25" clutch for free... that applies only to safety recalls like the subframe bolts.

Since we are on the subject of recalls... So if my car never had the sub-frame bolt recall done, Ford will still do it for me?

Look up the recalls on the NHTSA site link posted above to see if it applies to you or else call a dealler with your VIN #.

IF you are in the covered areas you should be able to get the subframe recall done. Ohio is in that recall area. Look under the carpeting in front for rubber plugs where they drill through the floor to access the sf. If there are no holes, no recall has been done.
