Does anyone know what year Mustang head units would be compatible (physically and wired) with a 90?

Probably all of them up through 2000 I believe. In 2001 they got the 6 disc changer head units. In my 99 cobra I have the 2 - 1 DIN (1 radio and the add on cd player). Are you looking for the factory radio/cd player?

Up through '93 will be exactly like your '90 head unit and will fit and function with no problems. The 94-99 head units will fit with minor modification to the mounting bracket (you have to remove part of the divider bar) and you will have to either put at switch in to tun on the black JBL amp or swap in a 92-95 SHO JBL amp.

Thanks for the replies.

I like the look of the stock radio in my black interior, but the junkyard that had the car before took it out. I was cruising ebay a while back and missed out on a CD and Radio set out of a 95.

So I noticed the harnesses in my car there are at least a rectangular black bar that looks like my old GL's setup and a gray square connector. What is the square connector for? This car has JBL, by the way.

Are you sure it's not the grey connector thats rectangular and the black one that's square? (the rectangle one has a black cover). The rectangle one is for power and illumination wires, the square one is for the speakers. Also, that one is square because you have the premium sound system, on non-premium systems, both connectors are rectangular.
