I'm assuming I can do this.. just want to know if anyone has done such a thing. I have aftermarket fog's, and want to do away with my stupid toggle switch. Can I cut the power feed, that comes from the headlamp switch (assuming where it comes from) and tie it onto a keyed on circuit, then snip the wire that feeds the factory fog relay, and tie that onto my own relay that actually switches the light now.

I like to run my fog's with the parking lights when its not quite dark, and the factory setup wont allow that, thats why I origionally used the toggle, but its just too damn bright, and is annoying on longer trips, plus I want the stock look back in the interior. Thanks in advance!

This is a common mod, I have done it as well. Instructions are over at www.shotimes.com to wire up the switch so that it will receive its power to turn on the relay from the parking lights rather than the headlight low beam. All you need to do is snip the wire that comes from the headlights and cap it. Then splice into the wire that feeds the light on the switch and use that in place of where the headlight once supplied the switch with its trigger power.

I might be off a little on this though so double check it, its been a few years.

I figured it should be pretty straight forward... gotta get into that cd again and find that harness diagram.. I sure do love how detailed the connector #'s are.. just so many to search thru finding ''that right page again.." lol

thanks for the edit too.. ;)

Cut the red with black strip (headlight power) leave 2 inches or more on the back of the switch, cap the end that comes from the dash. Now splice in the part of the Black with strip that still attached to the switch with the Blue with red strip (park light power). And your done. Just make sure to have the lights off when you do this stuff. :)

Sweet man... took all the guesswork out of it. Hopefully someone else will find this useful. Also how heavy duty are the factory relays? Is it a better idea to run my own like I'm planning? All my wiring is already in its own 'harness' if ya will. All 12 ga wire, gotta redo the crimps tho, as they are starting to get crusty, but my 55w h3's are brighter than my headlights as it stands now.. :)
