I've noticed an exhaust leak, but didn't worry about it til this weekend. My car is overdue for a state inspection and I had to do something about my tie rods, rear brakes, and exhaust. The first two went swimmingly enough. My clunk up front were my inner tie rods. Whoda thunk?

Anyway I bought the car with Bullets welded on and I've been planning to go to a single exhaust for awhile and already had the muffler to do it. I got under it and my exhaust had a huge hole in it just after leaving the Y going to the drivers side. I'm not sure if its the stock pipe or not, but it was right at the weld where it decided to rust out. I pulled the muffler out of the hanger and it just fell to the ground. I had no choice but to go with minimal pipe I had to get it done. I ended up with an angled exhaust. I like it to be honest. I think it looks nifty I just need to move it over an inch or so.

Anybody else have their exhaust rust out on them? It was just the one little spot the rest is solid.

Can't say I've ever really seen a Gen3 with rusted out exhaust, but I'm sure they are out there and if the exhaust has been changed around some, anything is possible.
If the hole is really small, I would make friends with JB Weld. I've found either JB Weld or Quik-Steel work great for those little exhaust holes (as long as the entire pipe isn't on its way out).

I would have, but this was around the entire weld and I don't know if it was stock there.

If the weld was not original then I would expect it.

I was thinking the same thing as Paul. My exhaust is still all original from the motor to the chrome tips and it just refuses to rust at all, and that is with the first half dozen years of its life in the very road salt and sea salt conditions of Nova Scotia, a spot that can rust anything in record times. At well past 185k on the clock, the OEM exhaust system is still going strong. Pretty amazing.

I don't believe it was a stock peice I just haven't had many opportunities to work on anyones car but mine. It was slip fit a little passed the Y and welded on there so I'm doubting it to be factory.

Either way it just passed PA inspection so I'm pleased with it.

Everything was stock except for the mufflers and apperently the pipe after the split in the rear.

I'm planning on replacing everything with 3 inch, but wasn't planning on it so soon.
