So i want to get a full exhaust for my SHO minus new headers. And is was thinking of a ShoSource exhaust with a ShoSource equal length catless y pipe with 2 supper 44 flowmaster mufflers. what are your opinions of this setup? would it sound good, or bad with plenty of rasp(which i want none of)? and should i tune because i want to go catless?

Ive heard the Cat-back is a great set-up, very good build quality. The Y-pipe is the best one out there, the equal length gives it a better sound, however if you are going catless you are going to have rasp no matter what, even with a resonator. That would definently help though. Go for a catted Y-pipe if sound is a big point for you, it will sound much better.

I would get the Y-Pipe and replace the stock mufflers with Magnaflows. You will have a low tone, no rasp and just a little drone. Going with the larger diameter cat back you will increase noise, rasp and drone. I had to install two bullet style magnaflows in line to get rid of the rasp when I installed by SHO Shop Cat Back (similar to SHO Source)

I don't think its like the SHOShop setup, as we use a different resonator and you select the mufflers.

Anyways you will probably have a lot of rasp with the setup. If you have Magnaflow mufflers and go catless it should have very little rasp. You can hear it in the video on the site.

If you go catted with the Slowmasters it will be loud but there would only be rasp o nthe top end. Again there is a sound clip on the site.

I run it with Magnaflow mufflers and catted and it sounds really good. Nice and deep, no rasp.

Sounds good guys, thanks. Oh one more question, if i go with LOUDSHO92's setup what kind of gain in power are we looking at? I assume there will be a gain but i'm just wondering how much now. Thanks again,

See below

Most of the gain will be with the y-pipe.

Bob

I agree at best maybe 5-10.

Though the stock mufflers are a restriction at I think 250hp, I think.

My first set up was a Magnaflow catted y-pipe, stock catback and Summit turbo mufflers. A pretty inexpensive set up and sounded pretty good (atleast in my opinion). I then switched to an equal length catless y with a dynomax catback. While it did seem to help my top end....it was rasp city. If you are concerned about the sound then defiantly go with a catted y-pipe.

I'm going to be installing a new y pipe soon from shosource it definitely seems to be the best choice. As for rasp people seem to recommend the biggest resonator you can fit.
For now I have a dynomax catback, but when that rusts out i'm going stainless. It's raspy, but it was cheap with their discount they were running at the time.
I have heard flow master 44s on numerous v8s, but never on one of these engines. I guess i'd listen to sound clips before i'd buy mufflers, and think about stainless.
