I'm looking for a cheap way to mod my exhaust with out breaking the bank . I have researched the setups from V8sho.com .. and such .. I have a 98 Vibrant white ..S H O .. The exhaust has been modified slightly already but it is way to loud .. the 3rd cat has been removed .. and flex also .. replaced with a strait pipe and a differant flex .. resonator still in place .. then its just straight pipes .. i think they used stock piping on it ..it looks to be an inch and somthing to 2 inches .. the sound best to be described a mustang with rasp .. very loud .. i was thinking of putting a long cherrybomb on ther in place of the resonator ..and finnishing it out at 2 1/4 all the rest back .. would this help any ? or any ideas or other suggestions .. for a set up that dosent cost an arm and a leg ..lol .. i know why own a sho .. if i wanna penny pinch ..these cars ar like women ..always emptying your pockets ..lol sorry ladies .. but i just need a quick fix for a low cost .. growl not bark .. any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated ... thank you in advance :swing:

Well, the long cherry bomb will still be pretty loud. I have a similar cat back set up as you and run a pair of Flowmaster 44's. The sound is loud, and barky under heavy throttle, but can quiet down on light loads. It doesn't resonate at highway speeds, but it is always there. It turns heads, lets people know you are serious, but does not scream look at me I am breaking the law either. Very happy with the set up.

I agree with aarmel.

I have no cats and Flowmaster 50's in place.. and it's only loud when you want it to be. It sounds very very nice for city driving.

Mine does not have a resonator or sound clips. It uses the stock cat piping with the two cats, but the cats are gutted, then a cut w/ flex pipe where the 3rd cat used to be, then 2.5" (I believe.. need to remember that) all the way back to the Flowmaster 50's.

I've seen a few SHO's with the full exhaust system still in place but the mufflers removed and straight pipes installed. A bit loud for my tastes, but the owners liked it.

A couple cherry bombs in place of the mufflers is more aggressive than stock, but not obnoxious as long as the stock resonator is in place.

I think my piping size is about 2.25, Flowmaster 40s, and the resonator & 3rd CAT replaced with a delete pipe. I also hacked off the intake silencer out of the front driver's side wheelwell.

She sounds pretty ******. :evilgrin::evilgrin:

I had a 3" pipe from the flex pipe to the existing OEM pipe bends around the gas tank, then 3" out to a single 3" SS muffler. Cost about $150 and done in SS.

Smell.. that's about it.

Can you take a sound clip of the rasp? I have the same setup and no rasp.

Wow, you're right, that is a lot of rasp. Interesting.

I don't think I'm really qualified to tell you what would fix that though.. as my setup I bought used and worked/sounded great from install..

Sorry man. Hopefully someone else can help you out with that. All in all, not a bad sound though.

Also, you have a cardomain or pictures of your car?
