Looking for some input on some exhaust options I'm considering. I would like it louder, but after coming from a Coyote Mustang with a Flowmaster Outlaw catback that had unreal drone at cruising speed/rpm, I don't want a repeat performance. I can deal with a little drone, but I'd rather leave it stock than have what I had with my Mustang. My SHO is a '12 PP and here are the options I'm looking at with their approximate cost, as I'm not looking to break the bank.

1. Fabricate my own rear muffler deletes, $80

2. Dynomax Ultraflow OEM fit mufflers, $280

3. Granatelli electric cutouts (spliced in just ahead of rear mufflers), $350

I did try searching the forum but didn't find much, so any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

Muffler delete is what I did because I wanted it louder but not crazy loud and I'm happy with it.

You will have drone with a muffler delete. I have downpipes and rear muffler delete, and will be adding two 31” glass pack resonators in place of the third cat and third muffler to help with the drone. The car is pretty loud, and mid range tones are pretty garbage.

That's what I had heard a majority of the time, but I've also heard of people that haven't had it, lol. Just wish I could find some more info on it, I figure there are a pile of threads on here about the topic but just can't seem to find them, maybe I'm not searching right . . .

I run PPE DP with MRT axle back. MRT was modified with hemholtz resonators. Drone is minimal and has nice rumble to it. For muffler delete I've ridden in one now, drone is alot louder than mine. But mrt is a RIP off, personally I would just add hemholtz resonators with delete, and should sound sweet. My exhaust is almost dead on with this SHO in the video, " I copied his solution and gave him credit for it" but he ran factory DP, my PPE gives the tone a little more turbo noise. There was a discussion on this very exhaust in the video on here not long ago.

I have seen the hemholtz design in a couple threads. I like the results but I'm trying to keep this mod within my capabilities, and I can't weld, lol.

Came across a fourth option that I'm leaning towards, Flowmaster FlowFX mufflers. They're a straight-through muffler with packing that Flowmaster classifies as "moderate" sound in and out. I heard a clip of it on a 3.5 TT Raptor and I liked it. My hope is that the packing takes care of some/all of the drone . . .

This is the setup I have, Flow FX Mufflers with 4" tips, everything else stock. I'll get you a video clip when I get a chance. I am really happy with it. I just wanted a little more sound than stock without the drone. I would say there is a *tiny* bit of drone at highway speed but it's barely noticeable and I actually like being able to hear it a little bit.

Here are a couple vids I got real quick.

One from outside the car, one from inside accelerating to about 60, and one where I get up to about 75 at about the 15 second mark. You can just hear the drone if you listen carefully, but it's really very faint I can barely hear it inside the car over normal road noise. If you have people in the car you can easily talk over it. So I'm really happy with it.

Outside the car

Cruising

Accelerating

Thank you for the videos, they're about the best help I can get being the exact setup I'm looking at. Are they the 2.25" mufflers or the 2.5"?

They are 2.25" inlet and outlet, then I painted them black with VHT manifold paint. Mufflers purchased here: https://pitstopusa.com/i-23964652-flowmaster-flowfx-muffler-2-25-in-offset-out-center.html

Then I bought some clamp on style 4" black tips on Amazon that fit 2.0" - 2.5" pipes.

If I remember correctly, everything including installation was about $250.

Do you have any pictures of your setup? I've got a pretty good idea in my head, just curious what it looks like in reality, lol.

Thanks for the clip. Do you get drone at cruising speeds?
Not really. No mufflers, on this platform the mufflers cause the drone. No mufflers no drone. Let the exhaust flow freely out, drone is the exhaust speed slowing down to exit

There’s no way that you have no drone with straight through exhaust. These cars drone like a bitch.

Run catless downpipes to straight pipes out the rear. No drone. When cruising its pretty quiet. Actually more quiet then my corsa mufflers. Dont slow down the flow behind the turbos and there will be no drone.

Loud as **** when i get on it
