It doesn't happen all the time. Usually it's only audible when I am idling, but it's not constant, nor will it happen all the time. It's usually after the motor is warm, but then again, like I said before, it doesn't happen all the time. After I rev the motor a bit, you can hear kind of a rolling knock, not a dunk dunk dunk dunk like a rod knock, but a dunkdunkdunk (gets louder in the middle, then fade out) dunkdunkdunk and then stops. The only time I get an oil light is under hard braking when the trans doesn't have a chance to downshift, but then the motor comes right back up to idling speed after a second or 2 of a super dim oil light, and the trans gets a chance to downshift. I don't have time to pinpoint the noise, since it goes away before I have a chance to get the stethoscope. I'm not having any drivability issues, and car has plenty of power. Bearings are just short of 30k miles. When I do hear it, it sounds like it's coming from the drivers side of the motor.

:stupid: Yeah...what he said. More'n likely the noise you're hearing sounds like rod knock in double time...which, if is the case, rip the valve covers off and change them bitches!!!

What were the condition of the timing chains, and timing chain tensioners when your motor was rebuilt?

Doug

I agree that this is where you need to look first.

Good luck

Whack the cats with a mallet. It might be punch out time.

Edit...I saw from your sig that you have a custom y with high flow cats. Don't rule out the cats just because they are newer. There might still be a chunk broken off of one of them and its vibrating.

It's a top end noise. Sounds like it's coming from under the t-body area.

It's not. It's the transmission. I'll be taking it in Monday for warranty service. When it warms up, the CEL comes on, and the thing slips like **** and feels like the car has no power. Yay.
