Update:

Condition remains with equal-length y-pipe from SHO Source installed.
However, I just found an extra gasket on the cam-sensor, removed it, and drove around to see what would happen.

To the best of my knowledge, the car has not idled that smooth, accelerated that well, or pulled that hard since before I did the 120k.

A VERY big thanks to @zoomlater for suggesting the double-gasket check in another thread.

'The cam position sensor just slips over the metal end. There is an orange gasket inside the electrical connector that can sometime stick when replacing a new cam sensor. You can then end up with two orange gaskets inside the electrical connector which prevents the cam sensor from working properly.

Holy crap. zoomlater for the very obscure item to check win!!!
It was a big lesson for me as I was about to give up on my 92 after three tries trying to fix my engine problems. I found out about this possibility from another write up on this forum. Sure enough, there it was. I was that close to trashing the car due to this little orange gasket.
