Any chance when you filled it up with oil, some ran down on to the front manifold?

i didnt THINK i did because i used a gigantic funnel but anything is possible

Chances you had a few drips land on the exhaust manifold, nothing to worry about.

Check your oil level, then make sure you reinstalled the drain plug tightly. Did you install the correct filter? Possibility that you may have gotten the wrong filter and it's leaking from there. Take a look around, run the car and look underneath for a leak somewhere...

It could be your power steering pump. They will leak sometimes causing a light smoking condition from the accessory side of the engine. My 94 ATX did this. You may want to put a sheet of clean cardboard under the engine to see where exactly its leaking from. Oh, and make sure you put the filler cap back on! :D

I don't see the filter leaking on anything that will burn though. Imagine the cloud of smoke you'd have after every oil change.
Unless the gasket is tweaked and it's spraying on the exaust...but that would come from the front (well; technically left side) of the engine.
Leaky cam seal maybe?
