The other day, my car for no apparent reason started idling rough. I mean that idel it felt like it was going to shut off and the engine felt as if it was not firing properly. The check engine light came on and after a few hard revs it was back to normal. Well it does so on and off now. At first I attributed it to water or bad gas, but after i let tank run almost empty an added some additives and gas from Mobil same thing. So i decided after 67K its time to change oxygen sensors but the results are the same. Any suggestions short of trying to run codes ont this puppy (93 MTX).

The first thing you need to do is run the codes. The computer is trying to tell you what is wrong. Go to http://www.midwestsho.com/ for the code reading procedure and description of what they mean.

Sounds like Oil in the plug wells.

A failing CMP sensor will cause the same rough running. But why would you start changing parts before checking the codes? It's definitely easier then jacking the car up and changing O2's for no reason.
