Please bare with me I'm new to this stuff and not some super mechanic but I really love my new SHO (new to me anyways, I've wanted one since they first came out) and like many other new SHO owners I came here with pipe dreams of SC's, Turbo's, and NO2. Then reality and budget kicked in and I realize that good things come to those who wait (just like the ketchup comercial says :) ) and first and foremost I should get my engine running up to par. anyways I ran the codes on my '92 mtx and this is what i got 111 (system pass), on stored codes I came up with 219, 452, and 542. I read the list and know what the 219 and the 542 are but not the 452 (when i couldnt find a code for 452 I repeated the test 3x's just to make sure i was reading it right)

219=SPOUT circuit failure, timing defaulted to 10 degrees
542=Fuel pump open, bad ground or always on - - Power / Fuel Pump Circuits
452= :shrug:

ok so knowing what the codes are and knowing if and what to do about them are completely different things, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also anyone in the MA area that would be willing to do a 120k service over a weekend at a reasonable price, I dont think I'm up for a task of this magnitude as of yet (even with mark's drivinhard 60k service video :confused: ) I would be willing and would actually preffer to help you out with it so I can learn hands on.

:hail: thanks to anyone that responds, you guys have an awesome site here!

I guess you would need to replace your Spout connector. It is located by the engine test harness. It looks like a small grey fuse.

Is your car running?

according to the Chilton's Manual:

219=you got that one right.....the circuit's open which means you prolly lost the damn clippy thing that plugs into it.

542=fuel pump secondary circuit failure....I.E. you stalled the damn car....stop clutch dropping! :biggrin:

452=insufficient input from vehicle speed sensor (VSS).....prolly means that needs to be replaced.

And it's that easy!! :thumb:

So nothing major here, awesome thanks. I actually did notice that the "clippy thing" was missing when I was setting up to get the codes but didnt think much of it. The car seems to be running fairly well and its got 128k. the original owner I bought it from maintained it through his local ford dealership and took pretty good care of it. I was quoted about $1400 for a full maint. service on the engine, does this seem acurate? Its a little hard to justify since thats what I paid for the car and I've seen others that just had the 60k service completed recently for sale around that price or even less. I can see where it would be worth it to get many more miles out of this car, but there is no guarantee. anyways thanks for your time and help with the codes.
